Only two teams remain unbeaten in PFL play after Week 8 action. Drake needed overtime to defeat Marist and Butler needed a late fourth-quarter touchdown to overcome Morehead State. San Diego ended Jacksonville's unbeaten PFL run for the second consecutive year. Dayton posted a shutout to move above .500 in the conference race while Davidson picked up its season's first victory.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville's FCS-best 16-game home winning streak came to an end as San Diego won on the road for the first time with a 24-7 PFL victory at D.B. Milne Field, Saturday. Toreros quarterback Mason Mills completed 15-of-27 passeds for 217 yards and three touchdowns. Jacksonville suffered a setback early in the contest when quarterback Kade Bell left the game in the first quarter due to injury. Trevius Folston took his place but the Dolphins offense did not get past midfield the rest of the first half and could not recover from the early deficit.

DAYTON, Ohio – Dayton set a PFL record with 473 team rushing yards in a 45-0 PFL victory against Valparaiso, Saturday, at Welcome Stadium. Flyers running back Dan Jacob finished with 10 carries for 155 yards and two touchdowns while running back Connor Kacsor had nine carries for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Dayton finished the game with 631 offensive yards while holding Valparaiso to 164 total yards.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake overcame a 27-3 third-quarter deficit to force overtime where Gary Scott's two-yard touchdown run was the only score as Drake remained unbeated in PFL play with a 34-27 victory against Marist, Saturday at Drake Stadium. Marist built its 27-3 lead in the game's first 39 minutes on a pair of Max Jacques touchdown runs and two Tommy Reilly touchdown passes. However, Drake narrowed the gap when Michael Piatkowski found Grahm Butler on a 22-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. The Bulldogs added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter and coverted on all three of their two-point conversions to tie the game with 7:07 remaining in the game. Drake had the first possesion in overtime and needed six plays, including Scott's touchdown dash to take its first lead of the game. Marist got the ball to the Drake one-yard line on its possession, but Drake's defense answered the call with back-to-back sacks to end the game. Drake quarterback Mike Piatkowski completed 32-of-54 passes for 373 yards and two touchdowns while Scott carried the ball 19 times for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Reilly completed only 9-of-21 passes but those completions went for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Jacques added two touchdowns on 18 carries for 80 yards.

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Davidson scored the game's first 28 points then had to hold off a furious fourth-quarter charge to post its season's first victory, 28-21, against Campbell, in Saturday PFL action at Barker-Lane Stadium. Davidson quarterback Jonathan Carkhuff threw for the game's first three touchdowns with passes to Reese Williams, Danny Martinez and Lanny Funsten. Running back Spencer Perry's three-yard run with 2:21 left in the third quarter was the Wildcats' final score. Campbell charged back with 21 fourth-quarter points, all on the ground as running back Brandon Chandler broke up the shutout bid and quarterback Dakota Wolf followed with two more touchdown runs. Davidson recovered an on-side kick with 1:13 remaining to seal the victory. Carkhuff completed 31-of-44 passes for 340 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Davidson offense. Wolf amassed 234 yards, including 22 carries for 154 yards and two touchdowns.

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler scored the game's final three touchdowns to remain unbeaten in PFL play with a 35-32 victory against Morehead State, Saturday, at the Butler Bowl. The Bulldogs scored the game's first 10 points and led by that margin after one quarter. However, the Eagles responded by scoring the next 21 points and took a 21-17 lead into halftime. Morehead State added to its lead with the first two touchdowns of the second half, running back Kevin Thomas dashing into the end zone from two yards out to give MSU a 35-17 lead. Butler stormed back thanks to quarterback Matt Lancaster, who threw three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, including a 17-yard pass to Brendan Shannon with 1:22 left that gave Butler the lead for good. Morehead State's final drive got to the Butler 44-yard line, but a final pass attempt fell to the ground as time expired. Lancaster completed 31-of-53 passes for 296 yards and four touchdowns and added 15 carries for 101 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Morehead State's Zach Lewis completed 26-of-43 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns while Rees MacShara ran for 116 yards on 16 carries.
