CHICAGO – Morehead State senior quarterback Austin Gahafer has been listed on the STATS FCS National Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Watch List.

The Louisville, Ky., native is coming off a prolific 2015 season when he was named Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Year. Gahafer needs only 1,738 passing yards to set the Morehead State career record and just 2,717 yards to break the PFL career mark. Last season he threw for 3,244 yards and 24 touchdowns, scored three more times on the ground, and caught two touchdown passes from receiver Jake Raymond.

Gahafer opens the 2016 campaign with the most career passing yards (8,514) among all quarterbacks in the Football Championship Subdivision. Gahafer ranked in the top five in the nation in passing yards and completions per game (26.4). He was also a nominee for STATS National Offensive Player of the Year.

His 291 completions in 2015 rank fourth on the league's single-season top-10 list and his 510 attempts are third most in league history. Gahafer already ranks fourth in PFL career history in completions (842) and attempts (1,386), eighth in yards and ninth in touchdowns (60).
