BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The installation of lights has been completed at Campbell’s Barker-Lane Stadium / Ed Gore Field.

The process, which began in June, was completed Tuesday night when the stadium lights were turned on for the first time.

The four 110-foot poles, two on each side of the stadium, feature 42 each and 168 total fixtures, providing 100 foot candle on all portions of the playing field.

The stadium’s permanent lights will allow the Camels more options for practice times, as well as greater flexibility for broadcasts and other sporting events.

Campbell finished 2011 at 6-5 overall and 5-3 in PFL play, marking the program's highest win total since restarting the program in 2008. The Camels led the PFL in rushing for the third straight year (210.45 yards per game), placing 11 on all-conference teams.

The Camels will kickoff the 2012 football season on Thursday night, Aug. 30, under the lights at Barker-Lane Stadium against Shorter. Campbell will be opening at home for the third time in five seasons, and for the first time under lights.
