Campbell's Monroe named to CFPA preseason defensive back watch list

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Campbell's Steth Monroe was the Pioneer Football League's lone representative on the College Football Performance Awards' preseason defensive back watch list, the organization announced Monday.

Monroe returns after earning honorable mention All-PFL honors last season. He led the league with 15 passes defensed last season, including a league-best 11 pass breakups while ranking second with four pass interceptions. Monroe also recorded 4.5 tackles per game to rank among his position's leaders in tackles per game. 

The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
