Ten Pioneer Football League teams will be in action during Week 10 of the college football season. Fans will be able to catch a glimpse of all five games involving PFL squads on their computer or digital device through live video offerings, available on various school and league live video platforms, as noted in the table below.

Week 10 Game Capsules

Davidson at Jacksonville, 1 p.m.
Davidson travels down the Atlantic Coast to square off against Jacksonville. The Wildcats return to the road after dropping both games of its two-game homestand, including a loss to Campbell last week. The Dolphins return home seeking an end their own two-game losing streak after falling at Dayton last week. Davidson was held to a season-low three yards rushing in the loss to Campbell. Quarterback Taylor Mitchell completed 18 passes for 160 yards including a 41-yard touchdown connection with William Morris. Jacksonville also could not get its ground game going at Dayton, finishing with a season-low 36 yards. Backup quarterback Rylan Wells entered the loss at Dayton with five minutes remaining in the third quarter and completed 11-of-18 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns in his first significant action this season (he had two pass attempts entering the season). Linebacker Grady Redding finished with 14 tackles and now leads JU with 62 total tackles.

Dayton at Morehead State, 1 p.m.
Unbeaten Dayton puts its 10-game win streak on the line when it travels to upstart Morehead State. The Flyers’ 8-0 start following a win against Jacksonville is their best in 14 seasons and their 10-game win streak is one of only two FCS win streaks of 10 or more games. The Eagles’ 4-1 PFL start is their best five-game conference mark since 2007 and they own a six-game win streak at Jayne Stadium. Dayton quarterback Alex Jeske completed 20-of-23 passes for 180 yards, his 87 pass completion percentage the best in the PFL this season (minimum 15 passes) and third best in the FCS this season. In addition, freshman running back Tucker Yinger rushed for a career-high 122 yards in the win. Morehead State’s triple-overtime victory against Drake may have been costly as quarterback Austin Gahafer left in the fourth quarter after suffering an injury. Backup Jack Sherry stepped in and completed 6-of-9 passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns, including a 25-yard touchdown to Justin Cornwall in the second overtime. Cornwall caught 10 passes, including three for touchdowns in the victory, he now has a PFL-best 11 touchdown receptions this season.

Stetson at Marist, 1 p.m.
Stetson heads northward for a meeting against a surging Marist squad. The Hatters return to the road after suffering a loss to San Diego that saw it allow a season-most 644 yards. The Red Foxes downed Butler for their third straight win to move above .500 on the season. Stetson did not commit a turnover in its loss to San Diego and is 0-2 all-time when not committing a turnover. Hatters quarterback Ryan Tentler rushed for 105 yards against San Diego and moved past the 1,000 career rushing yard mark. Safety Donald Payne, just a junior, is second among the NCAA’s career active leaders list with 381 total tackles (behind Drake senior linebacker John Hugunin). Payne has averaged 12.29 tackles per game during his three-year career. Marist has intercepted six passes (22 passes defended) during its three-game win streak and has held opponents to 14 points or less in all three wins. Wide receiver Juston Christian caught just five passes but amassed 171 yards for a PFL single-game best 34.2 yards per reception. Safety Alex Spiess was the latest Red Foxes defender to record an interception. Six different Marist players have recorded an interception during its current win streak.

Valparaiso at Butler, 1 p.m.
The 10th anniversary of the Hoosier Helmet will see Valparaiso travel down Interstate 65 to Butler. Since the creation of the Hoosier Helmet Trophy, Butler has won seven of the nine meetings in the series and leads the all-time series 48-25. The Bulldogs return to the Butler Bowl after dropping both games of its back-to-back road games, including a loss at Marist last week. Butler did not gain a first down via a rush in the contest after being held to a season-low 44 rushing yards, but had 17 passing first downs as they accumulated 318 offensive yards. Quarterback Matt Shiltz completed 23-of-50 passes for 263 yards, completing passes to six different receivers, but none for touchdowns. Valparaiso returns to action after its off week and seeks to end a three-game losing streak. The Crusaders were held to a season-low 162 offensive yards in their last outing – a loss to Stetson. That outing saw Valparaiso score its first rushing touchdown this season when Jarrett Morgan found the end zone with 38 seconds remaining in the game.

Campbell at San Diego, 3 p.m.
Two of the PFL’s top rushing offenses square off against two of the league’s top rushing defenses when Campbell travels cross-country to San Diego. The Camels enter the game as the PFL’s top rushing offense, averaging 182.3 yards per game in league action. The Toreros rushing offense is second in the PFL with 155.8 yards per game. Both those efforts will be put to the test in Saturday’s meeting as San Diego (2nd, 85.6 yards per game) and Campbell (3rd, 91.7 ypg) are among the league’s top rush defenses. Camels running back De’Shawn Jones rushed for a school-record 201 yards against Davidson, also surpassing the Campbell career rushing mark when he ended the game with 946 career rushing yards. San Diego puts its 21-game home win streak against PFL teams on the line, the Toreros last lost at home to a PFL squad came Oct. 9, 2010 to Dayton. Torero freshman quarterback Anthony Lawrence pieced together the second-best passing performance in San Diego history with 453 yards against Stetson last week. It sparked a 644-yard offensive performance by the Toreros, which included a 177-yard receiving performance by Brian Riley. Both Lawrence’s and Riley’s efforts are the best in the PFL this season.

Off Week: Drake
Drake gets its week off in Week 10 before returning to action against Butler. The Bulldogs enter the break after playing in a triple-overtime loss at Morehead State. Junior running back Conley Wilkins had a career-high 201 yards on 31 carries in the loss.  Senior linebacker John Hugunin forced his ninth fumble in the loss, he is one shy of the FCS single-season record set by Alabama A&M’s Robert Mathis (currently with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts) in 2002. He also has 393 career tackles after a 15-tackle performance at Morehead State.
