Stetson and Davidson each won their season-opening tilts in Week 1 of the college football campaign. Drake fell at home to defending NAIA national champion Grand View while Marist, Morehead State and Jacksonville each dropped a road affair.

Grand View defeated DRAKE, 45-22
DES MOINES, Iowa – Grand View scored on four of its six possessions in the first quarter and homestanding Drake could not recover in a 45-22 nonconference loss, Saturday, at Drake Stadium. Grand View took advantage of a Drake fumble and interception as part of its 28-point outburst in the first frame. Drake would outscore Grand View over the final three quarters but could not make up the early 28-point deficit. Drake running back Conley Wilkins ran for two touchdowns and added a two-point conversion as part of a 16-carry, 62-yard performance.

STETSON def. Warner, 35-16
LAKELAND, Fla. – A 25-point second quarter helped Stetson sidestep Warner for a 35-16 nonconference victory, Saturday, at Vikings Stadium. Trailing 10-7 after one quarter, Stetson rattled off 25 unanswered points. Quarterback Ryan Tentler threw for one touchdown and ran for another, running back Cole Mazza added a rushing touchdown and kicker Grant Amick capped the quarter with a school-record 48-yard field goal for a 32-10 halftime lead. Stetson's special teams unit blocked two punts and blocked a PAT in the contest. One of those blocked punts was returned 25 yards by Donald Payne for the game's first score.

DAVIDSON defeated College of Faith-Charlotte, 56-0
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson snapped a 12-game losing streak with a 56-0 nonconference victory against College of Faith-Charlotte, Saturday, at Richardson Stadium. The Wildcats scored six first-half touchdowns to build a 43-0 lead. Davidson amassed 355 yards on the ground, with running back David Rogers' 13-carry, 116-yard performance that included a touchdown run. Wildcats quarterback J.P. Douglas completed 10-of-11 passes for 128 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Meanwhile the Davidson defense recorded 10 sacks while limiting College of Faith to 120 total offensive yards.

Sacred Heart defeated MARIST, 28-7
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Marist scored the game's first touchdown but was held without a score the game's remainder and dropped a 28-7 nonconference decision at Sacred Heart, Saturday, at Campus Field. Marist Senior Craig Thompson snared an interception on Sacred Heart's opening drive and quarterback Ed Achziger immediately capitalized with a 78-yard touchdown strike to wideout Joe Tralli on the ensuing play. However, Marist could not take advantage of three more turnovers it forced. Achziger was 16-for-39 with 194 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in his first collegiate start.

Richmond defeated MOREHEAD STATE, 55-10
RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond quarterback Michael Strauss, a Payton Award Watch List member, threw for three touchdowns to lead Richmond past Morehead State, 55-10, in nonconference action at Robins Stadium. Strauss completed of 17-of-23 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns – each to a different receiver. Morehead State's Austin Gahafer completed 23-of-37 passes for 174 yards and a four-quarter touchdown.

Southeastern Louisiana defeated JACKSONVILLE, 44-3
HAMMOND, La. – Nationally-ranked Southeastern Louisiana scored 27 first-quarterb points to move past Jacksonville, 44-3, in Saturday nonconference action at Strawberry Stadium. Southeastern Louisiana quarterback Bryan Bennett threw an 89-yard touchdown pass and ran 83 yards for another score in the first quarter alone. He finished with 311 yards passing and 93 rushing yards. Jacksonville quarterback Kade Bell completed 19-of-50 passes for 149 yards. The Dolphins defense picked off a pair of passes, one of those interceptions leading to the Brandon Behr's 33-yard field goal int he second frame.
