IN BRIEF

The race atop the PFL standings remained unchanged after Week 8 action. Jacksonville, Campbell and Dayton remained unbeaten while San Diego and Drake picked up road wins to remain one game back of the leaders. Individually, Dayton's Connor Kacsor ran for 232 yards and four touchdowns in a win against Morehead State; Jacksonville kicker Brandon Behr scored 12 points on three field goals and three PATs in a win against Stetson; Stetson's Donald Payne had 21 tackles in a loss to Jacksonville while San Diego's Jamal Agnew had two interceptions and three pass breakups in a win against Butler.

LEAGUE RECAPS

SAN DIEGO defeated BUTLER, 27-21
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – San Diego scored 21 points in a pivotal second quarter then held on for a 27-21 PFL victory against Butler, Saturday, at the Butler Bowl. The Toreros struck for 21 points in the final 6:44 of the first half with Keith Williams finding Ross Dwelley for the game's first score followed by rushing touchdowns by Chris Campano and Parker Mays. Butler chraged back with 21 points in the second half, but San Diego's David Last kicked field goals of 34 and 24 yards to provided what proved to be the final margin. Butler's Malcolm Weaver completed 22-of-45 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Williams led San Diego with a 20-for-28 effort for 251 yards and a touchdown.

DAYTON defeated MOREHEAD STATE, 41-7
DAYTON, Ohio – Running back Connor Kacsor scored four touchdowns to lead Dayton in a 41-7 PFL victory against Morehead State, Saturday, at Welcome Stadium. Kacsor scored the game's first 21 points, breaking off runs of 52, 11 and 63 yards for touchdowns. He would add a 61-yard touchdown burst to start the third quarter and finished the game with 10 carries for 232 yards. All six of Dayton's touchdowns came from the ground game which amassed 443 yards on 46 carries, with Jack Adams and Kyle Sess also adding scoring runs. Morehead State broke through in the third quarter when Austin Gahafer found Jake Raymond for a four-yard scoring pass. Gahafer completed 20-of-29 passes for 155 yards.

DRAKE defeated VALPARAISO, 17-9
VALPARAISO, Ind. – Drake scored 14 fourth-quarter points to escape with a 17-9 PFL victory against Valparaiso, Saturday, at Brown Field. Leading 10-9 and with Valparaiso driving, Drake's Drew Ormseth intercepted a pass and returned in 39 yards to secure the win with 51 seconds remaining.  Valparaiso scored the game's first nine points, Ben Lehman finding Ryan Shea for an eight-yard touchdown then Jacob Newman connecting for a 23-yard field goal. Drake got on the board just before halftime when Benjamin Tesson connected on a 40-yard field goal. The Bulldogs took the lead early in the fourth quarter when quarterback Andy Rice dove in from one yard out. Drake's offense was led by quarterback Andy Rice's 25-for-40, 265-yard passing performance. Valparaiso was held to 176 offensive yards, 120 coming from the quarterback duo of Ben Lehman and Scott Staal, who combined to completed 14-of-32 passes.

CAMPBELL defeated DAVIDSON, 28-27
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – David Salmon found Ben Bolling for a 14-yard touchdown with 54 seconds left to lead Campbell past Davidson, 28-27, in Saturday PFL action at Barker-Lane Stadium. Davidson jumped out to an early 17-0 lead thanks to quarterback J.P. Douglas' 10-yard pass to Trey Huelskamp and his own 11-yard run in the first quarter. Campbell would get 14 points on the board before the half as quarterback Dakota Wolf ran for two touchdowns, but left the game after the second rushing score. Daivdson extended its lead with 10 points in the second quarter, including Jeffrey Keil's three-yard run. However, Campbell battled back as Salmon first found Jabri Ridenhour early in the fourth quarter. The Camels defense set up the game-winning drive when Luke Hill intercepted a pass at the Davidson 26-yard line and Salmon found Bolling three plays later.  Salmon completed 9-of-21 passes for 108 yards and the Camels offense recorded just 275 offensive yards. Davidson's offense piled up 410 yards as Douglas completed 28-of-42 passes for 298 yards and carried the ball 18 times for 48 yards.

JACKSONVILLE defeated STETSON, 30-7
DeLAND, Fla. – Jacksonville amassed 536 offensive yards en route to a turnover filled 30-7 PFL victory against Stetson, Saturday at Spec Martin Stadium. The Dolphins offense committed six turnovers – four interceptions and two fumbles – but only paid the price once as Stetson turned a third quarter interception into a touchdown pass from Ryan Tentler to Mike Yonker. By then Jacksonville was ahead 23-0 thanks to Brandon Behr's three field goals, a Dallas Jackson interception return for a touchdown and Ulysses Bryant's two-yard touchdown. Bryan would pace the Jacksonville offense with 109 rushing yards and 119 receiving yards, accounting for 228 of the team's 536 yard day. Stetson was held to 187 offensive yards, 71 coming on its final drive of the contest.
