SAINT LOUIS, Mo. � For the first time since 2001, all eight Pioneer Football League teams will play one another in a round-robin format in 2006.

Each PFL team will play a complete round-robin conference schedule, beginning when Valparaiso visits Morehead State, Saturday, Sept. 16. League expansion in 2001 led to the creation of divisions and team�s were required only to play a round-robin schedule within their division. With the departure of Austin Peay after the 2005 season�s conclusion, the league consolidated by removing the divisions. Thus, the league championship will be determined by regular-season play in 2006.

The league schedule features teams playing either a 4-home/3-away format or a 3-home/4-away format. However, for the 2006 season, Butler will have five home games due to a mutually agreed change with Valparaiso, Oct. 21, where the Crusaders will visit the Bulldogs to help celebrate Butler�s Sesquicentennial.

Six league members will play an full 11-game schedule while three � Davidson, Dayton and San Diego � will take one week off during the season. The season will begin Thursday, Aug. 31 with Drake hosting I-AA runner-up Northern Iowa and Morehead State visiting Western Illinois. The remaining six teams will start their season�s Saturday, Sept. 2.
