Kit Cartwright Released As Butler Football Coach

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Kit Cartwright will not be retained as head football coach at Butler University after the 2005 football season, it was announced today by Butler director of athletics John Parry. Cartwright, in his fourth season as Butler�s head coach, will guide the Bulldogs in the final three games of this season.

Cartwright began his duties at Butler as offensive coordinator in 1998. He was named head coach of the Bulldogs in 2002. He guided the Bulldogs to a 4-6 record in his initial campaign, but Butler has won just three of 30 games since. Prior to joining Butler�s staff, Cartwright served as an assistant coach at 11 different universities over 22 years, including Indiana and Purdue.

No timetable has been set for naming a replacement.
