PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSE

Ryan Hubbard, Davidson
Sophomore, Wide Receiver
Charlotte, N.C. (Charlotte Christian HS)
Hubbard caught five passes for 172 yards and three touchdowns to lead Davidson to a dominating 44-6 PFL South victory against Austin Peay. His first two pass receptions single-handedly put the Wildcats out front for good in the games first eight minutes. Hubbards first reception was a 55-yard touchdown catch with just 1:06 gone in the first quarter. His second touchdown catch was a 79-yard back breaker that gave Davidson a 15-0 lead with 7:08 remaining in the period. Hubbards 172-yard effort was the third-best performance by a I-AA wideout in Saturdays contests.

DEFENSE
Mike Jones, Valparaiso
Senior, Strong Safety
Lake Zurich, Ill. (Lake Zurich HS)
Valparaiso and St. Josephs (Ind.) combined for nine turnovers in their contest and Jones had a hand on three of them. He finished the game with 10 tackles, one tackle for loss, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and a pass breakup. His fumble forced was recovered by the Crusaders and led to a touchdown, narrowing the margin to 32-15. However, that effort wasnt enough as Valparaiso lost the non-conference tilt, 34-21, to St. Josephs.

SPECIAL TEAMS
Brad Smith, Davidson
Junior, Placekicker
Danville, Pa. (Bloomsburg Area HS)
Smith made both his field-goal attempts, including a career-best 43-yarder, and made all three PATs to scored nine points in Davidsons 44-6 PFL South victory against Austin Peay. Smith made his career-long despite sloppy field conditions at Richardson Stadium which had been soaked the night before by heavy rain. Smith enters week seven as the nations fifth-most prolific field-goal kicker, averaging 1.8 field goals made per game.
