299 Student-Athletes Named in League�s Fourth Annual Honor Roll

ST. LOUIS, Mo. � A league record-tying 299 student-athletes from nine member institutions were named to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2004 semester.

Bolstered by three school�s posting best-ever marks, the 299 members of the 2004 honor roll tied the mark set in 2003. The University of San Diego placed a league record 53 student-athletes on the honor roll. Also posting best-ever marks were Valparaiso University (43) and Austin Peay (23). Valparaiso finished third among all conference members in total number of student-athletes placed, behind San Diego and the University of Dayton (46). Austin Peay posted an improvement for the second consecutive season.

Pioneer Football League athletic directors and coaches established the honor roll three years ago as a way to recognize the league�s outstanding student-athletes. The academic honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in football at member institutions during the fall semester and posted a 3.0 grade-point average or higher while enrolled full-time in accordance with NCAA rules.
