Butler 31, Marist 10
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Butler held Marist scoreless in the second half and scored 21 unanswered points to secure a 31-10 PFL victory, Saturday, at the Sellick Bowl. Marist leveled the game, 10-10, at the halftime horn thanks to Luke Paladino’s 31-yard field goal.  On the other side of the break, neither team scored until Butler broke the tie with 58 seconds left in the third quarter on Joey Suchy’s three-yard touchdown run to cap a 69-yard drive that needed only three plays and 58 seconds. Suchy would catch a 16-yard touchdown pass from Bret Bushka with 10:25 left in the game to extend the lead. Suchy caught 16 passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another on two carries for 20 yards. Marist’s Brock Bagozzi completed 23-of-42 passes for 214 yards and a touchdown.

Dayton 23, Stetson 20
DAYTON, Ohio – Sam Webster’s 22-yard field goal with 6:06 remaining in the game proved to be the difference as Dayton rallied for a 23-20 PFL victory against Stetson, Saturday, at Welcome Stadium. The Flyers and Hatters played to a 10-10 tie at halftime but Stetson broke the tie with the second half’s first 10 points. Brady Meitz hit Quinton Lane for a 75-yard touchdown pass and Cameron Gillis added a 21-yard field goal with 6:59 left in the third to give Stetson the 20-10 lead. Webster hit a 44-yard field goal on the ensuing Dayton drive to trim the deficit to seven points. Dayton tied the game on the first play of the fourth quarter as Shane Hamm completed a four-play, 70-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run. Dayton’s defense forced a three-and-out on the next Stetson drive and Dayton saw its 13-play, 50-yard drive punctuated by Webster’s tie-breaking field goal. Hamm completed 11-of-18 passes for 122 yards and had 12 carries for 44 yards and a touchdown. Meitz completed 21-of-34 passes for 327 yards and a touchdown.

St. Thomas 46, Presbyterian 17
CLINTON, S.C. – St. Thomas overcame a scoreless first quarter to down Presbyterian, 46-17, Saturday at Bailey Memorial Stadium. Presbyterian raced out to a 10-0 lead after one quarter thanks to Tyler Wesley’s 53-yard touchdown pass to Dominic Kibby. St. Thomas got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter as Joshua Komis dove into the end zone from four yards out for the Tommies first touchdown. Shawn Shipman would add a touchdown with 53 seconds left in the half but St. Thomas trailed 17-14 at the break. St. Thomas shutout Presbyterian in the second half and scored 32 unanswered points. Cade Sexauer game St. Thomas the lead for good with his one-yard touchdown run to cap the half’s opening drive. Ryan Sever returned a blocked punt 11-yards for another touchdown to extend the lead to 29-17 and UST did not look back. Sexauer completed 14-of-19 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown and carried the ball six times for 31 yards and another touchdown. Wesley completed 5-of-9 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown for Stetson.

Valparaiso 40, Morehead State 35
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Aaron Dawson’s 28-yard touchdown run with 5:37 remaining led Valparaiso to a 40-35 PFL victory against Morehead State, Saturday, at Jayne Stadium. The game featured four ties and three lead changes in its 60 minutes. Morehead State scored the game’s first touchdown only to see Valparaiso score twice in the first quarter to take a 14-7 lead. The Eagles would tie the game at 14-14, 21-21, and 28-28 but could not take the lead. Valparaiso would break the last of those ties with Brian Bartholomew’s 26-yard field goal with 14:14 left in the game. The Eagles would take their second lead of the game on the next drive when Grady Cramer connected with Christian Graves for a 73-yard touchdown pass for a 35-31 MSU lead. Bartholomew could narrow that deficit with a 48-yard field goal on the next Valparaiso drive. The Beacons defense would force a three-and-out and its offense would cover 84 yards in six plays to score the go-ahead touchdown. Morehead State would have one last opportunity to win the game, driving to the Valparaiso 20-yard line on the game’s final drive but Kohlton Sherman intercepted a pass in the end zone to end the game. Dawson ran for 241 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries – the first 200-yard rushing performance in the PFL this season.  Cramer paced Morehead State with a 25-of-45 passing outing for 326 yards and two touchdowns.

Davidson 48, Drake 14
DES MOINES, Iowa – Davidson never trailed in a 48-14 PFL victory against Drake, Saturday, at Drake Stadium. The Wildcats and Bulldogs traded touchdowns in the first quarter with Drake’s Ian Corwin finding Eli Stewart for a five-yard touchdown pass to tie the game 7-7. Davidson broke that tie early in the second quarter with Aaron Malone’s seven-yard run. Bernard Turner tacked on a 62-yard touchdown run to put Davidson ahead 21-7. Drake would score just before the halftime break on Trey Radocha’s seven-yard touchdown run. However, Davidson’s defense shutout Drake in the second half and Davidson scored four second-half touchdowns to secure the win. Davidson saw 12 ball carries combine for 355 rushing yards on 57 carries but the Wildcats also passed for four touchdowns in the win. Blake Ellingson completed 9-of-15 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown to lead the Drake offense.
