NOTES FROM AROUND THE PFL

WEEK 7 IN REVIEW
St. Thomas remained the PFL’s lone unbeaten team after Week 7 of the FCS slate following its win against Drake… Butler, Dayton, Davidson, and San Diego remained right behind the Tommies with Week 6 victories, each remaining in the group of one-loss PFL teams… Jake Chisholm ran for 90 yards and a touchdown, leading Dayton to a 24-7 PFL victory against Marist at Tenney Stadium… Davidson scored 21 points in the second quarter and held on for a 28-26 PFL victory against Morehead State at Richardson Stadium… Lucas Kozlowski intercepted a pass with 38 seconds remaining, sealing Butler’s 26-25 PFL victory against Valparaiso at Brown Field… St. Thomas extended its home win streak to 25 games with a 26-14 PFL victory against Drake at O’Shaughnesy Stadium… San Diego scored a touchdown in all four quarters to down Presbyterian, 28-3, in Saturday PFL action at Torero Stadium… Valparaiso’s Aaron Dawson ran for 158 yards to lead the league’s Week 7 runners with a 158-yard outing against Butler… St. Thomas freshman Gabe Abel, making his first collegiate start, ran for 100 yards against Drake… San Diego’s Michael Cramer (107 yards against Presbyterian) and Marist’s Will Downs (104 yards against Dayton) posted the league’s only two 100-yard receiving outings… Morehead State’s Grady Cramer passed for 304 yards at Davidson for the  league’s sixth 300-yard passing outing… Joshua Hong’s 29-yard interception return for a touchdown was the lone return touchdown during the week.

HATTERS HIT THE ROAD, FINALLY
With its trip to Dayton in Week 7, Stetson becomes the final team in the FCS – or in NCAA Football for that matter – to play a road game in 2022. The Hatters opened the season with a four-game homestand that included their PFL opener against Morehead State. Stetson was slated to open its road schedule in Week 5 at San Diego, but Hurricane Ian prevented their departure and resulted in the game being canceled. A Week 6 game against Marist extended the homestand and the Hatters took their off week last week, meaning this weekend’s game at Dayton is their road opener.

WILDCATS DO RUN RUN
Davidson’s offense owns four of the FCS’ 400-yard rushing days in 2022, including the top two spots thanks to a 498-yard rushing performance against Butler and a 467-yard day against Morehead State. The Wildcats are averaging an FCS-best 378.4 rushing yards per game – 97.3 yards per game more than second-ranked Montana State (281.1 yards per game).

HATTERS THROUGH THE AIR
Meanwhile, Stetson enters Week 7 ranked No. 6 among FCS teams with 304.8 passing yards per game. The Hatters 444-yard performance against Louisiana Christian is the ninth-best passing performance in 2022 while its 384 yards against Concordia ranks 23rd.

SAN DIEGO’S SCORING STREAK BECOMES PFL’S LONGEST
With Dayton’s consecutive game scoring streak coming to an end, San Diego takes over as the longest scoring streak in the PFL. The Toreros have scored in 247 games, with their last shutout coming at the hands of Dayton during the 1999 season.
