Game Recaps

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Mark Pappas threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as Morehead State opened the 2019 season with a 44-7 nonconference victory against Union College, Thursday, at Jayne Stadium. Pappas opened the game's scoring with a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter before adding touchdown throws of 21, 48 and 34 yards – the latter of those touchdowns extending the Eagles lead to 37-0 after three quarters. The Eagles defense held Union to 34 rushing yards on 28 carries and 315 total offensive yards.

RICHMOND, Ky. – Ollie Reese and Chris Duncan connected for a 65-yard touchdown early in the third quarter but it wasn't enough as Valparaiso fell to Eastern Kentucky, 53-7, Thursday at Roy Kidd Stadium. Eastern Kentucky scored on the game's first two possessions, Daryl McCleskey dashing 64 yards for a touchdown followed by Corey Glass' 29-yard scoop-and-score of a Valparaiso fumble. The Colonels would run for 333 yards against the Crusaders, which finished with 174 offensive yards.

RICHMOND, Va. – Calvin Turner Jr. was one of three players to score but Jacksonville could not recover from an early Richmond onslaught in a 38-19 defeat, Thursday, at Robins Stadium. Richmond scored twice in the first quarter, Joe Mancuson diving in from four yards out followed four minutes later by Maurice Jackson's 56-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Jacksonville broke through in the second quarter as Craige Sexton found Jordan Younge-Humphrey for a 71-yard scoring pass, but Richmond scored the next 17 points and never looked back. Turner Jr. passed for 65 yards and ran for another 32, including a fourth-quarter touchdown.
