WEEK 3 RECAPS

Duquesne 34, Dayton 20
PHILADELPHIA – Dayton held a halftime lead but could not hold it in a 34-20 loss to Duquesne, Saturday, at Rooney Athletic Field. The Flyers got first-quarter rushing touchdowns from Jack Adams and Alex Kenner to build a 14-6 lead after 15 minutes. Kicker William Will then added field goals of 27 and 45 yards in the second quarter, extending the lead to 20-9. However, the Dukes scored the game's final 25 points to escape with the win. Quarterback Alex Jeske completed 9-of-22 passes for 110 yards and ran for 45 yards on nine carries.

Drake 28, McKendree 16
DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake scored 28 straight points to overcome a first-quarter deficit en route to a 28-16 victory against McKendree, Saturday, at Drake Stadium. Trailing 10-0 after the first frame, Drake got on the board when Conley Wilkins ran from 16 yards out for a touchdown. Quarterback Grant Kraemer then gave Drake the lead for good with a five-yard pass to Andrew Yarwood with 41 seconds until halftime. Kramer added two third-quarter touchdowns and finished the day completing 24-of-42 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns.

Valparaiso 49, Trinity International 24
VALPARAISO, Ind. – Quarterback Jimmy Seewald threw five touchdown passes in his first collegiate start to lead Valparaiso past Trinity International, 49-24, Saturday at Brown Stadium. Seewald threw three touchdown scores in the first half, but Valparaiso led just 21-17 at the break. After the teams traded touchdowns in the third, Valparaiso running back Jarrett Morgan scored on a 52-yard rush to give the Crusaders an 11-point lead. Seewald added to the lead with a touchdown pass to Morgan later in the third before adding an insurance passing touchdown in the fourth. Seewald completed 22-of-29 passes for 345 yards and five touchdowns. Morgan finished with 199 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns.

Sacred Heart 31, Marist 6
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Marist scored the game's first six points but could not hold on in a 31-6 loss to Sacred Heart, Saturday, at Campus Field. The Red Foxes only scores came courtesy kicker Mike Maccarone who hit a pair of 39-yard field goals for a 6-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Sacred Heart capitalized on short fields on its final two drives of the second quarter, scoring touchdowns each time to take a 14-6 halftime lead it would not relinquish. Wide receiver Juston Christian caught five passes for 123 yards to pace Marist's offense.

Morehead State 56, Lincoln (PA) 6
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Quarterback Austin Gahafer threw for three touchdowns to lead Morehead State past Lincoln (Pa.), 56-6, Saturday at Jayne Stadium. The Eagles opened the scoring when Trevor Jones returned a punt 39 yards for a touchdown. Morehead State would rush for two touchdowns before Gahafer connected on his first touchdown pass to Jalen Elliott late in the second quarter. He would throw another touchdown at the halftime gun then tacked on a third quarter pass to put the game away. Morehead State amassed 514 offensive yards and 28 first downs while holding the Lions to 140 yards and four first downs.

Presbyterian 31, Campbell 14
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Presbyterian scored the game's first 17 points and held on to hand Campbell its first loss of 2016, 31-14, Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium. Quarterback Elijah Burress broke up the the Blue Hose's shutout bid midway through the second quarter when he found Jared Joyner for a 28-yard touchdown. De'Shawn Jones would added a short touchdown run in the fourth that cut the deficit to 24-14 but the Camels would get no closer. Burress completed 12-of-26 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown.

Butler 27, Taylor 14
UPLAND, Ind. – Butler quarterback Malcolm Weaver passed for 214 yards and ran for a touchdown and 119 yards in a 27-14 victory against Taylor, Saturday, at Turner Stadium. Weaver's touchdown run was a 70-yard burst that gave Butler a 14-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Taylor rallied to tie the game, 14-14, before Dre Bevelhimer hit field goals from 34 and 35 yards to rebuild the Butler lead. Duvante Lane sealed the win with a 15-yard touchdown run. Weaver completed 17-of-32 passes for 214 yardswhile his 199 rushing yards came on just seven carries.

Jacksonville 41, Edward Waters 7
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Austin Yeloushan's 19-yard fumble return for a touchdown game Jacksonville a 13-7 lead en route to a 41-7 victory against Edward Waters, Saturday at D.B. Milne Field. The Dolphins secured the win with four third quarter touchdowns as quarterback Rylan Wells passed for two touchdowns in the frame as part of a 4-for-9, 187-yard performance.

Davidson 38, Livingstone 12
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson did all of its scoring in the first half and rolled to a 38-12 victory against Livingstone, Saturday, at Richardson Stadium. The Wildcats defense returned a fumble and interception for touchdown, the former giving Davidson a 14-0 lead. Quarterback Stockton McGuire ran for a touchdown and passed for another around the fumble return for a 21-0 lead after the first quarter that would stand up the rest of the way.
