DAYTON (2-0) def. Duquesne (2-1), 24-13

DAYTON, Ohio – Dayton running back Connor Kacsor made up for an early miscue, rushing four three touchdowns in a 24-13 nonconference win against Duquesne, Saturday, at Welcome Stadium. Kacsor had an early fumble that resulted in a Duquesne touchdown and a 6-3 lead. He responded with three touchdown carries in the second half to erase a 13-3 deficit. Kacsor carried the ball 40 times for 244 yards – his fifth career 200-yard rushing performance.

VALPARAISO (0-2) def. College of Faith [Ark.], 86-0

VALPARAISO, Ind. – Valparaiso led wire-to-wire in a 86-0 victory against College of Faith (Ark.), Saturday, at Brown Field in a game that was not countable for either NCAA or PFL records and statistics. Valparaiso rolled up eight rushing touchdowns and 333 yards on the ground. Running back Jake Hutson found the end zone four times on six carries.

South Dakota (2-1) def. DRAKE (1-2), 52-0

VERMILLION, S.D. – Drake suffered its first shutout since 2011 in a 52-0 loss to South Dakota, Saturday at the DakotaDome. Quarterback Cody Thibault made his first career start in place of the injured Andy Rice and completed 14-of-37 passes for 147 yards but also threw a pair of interceptions. South Dakota started seven of their 11 first-half drives in Drake territory, scoring four touchdowns, it jumped out to a 31-0 halftime lead.

MARIST (1-2) def. Sacred Heart (2-1), 34-27

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Running back Marcellus Calhoun's 69-yard touchdown run with 3:33 left in the game pushed Marist to a 34-27 home-opening victory against Sacred Heart, Saturday, at Tenney Stadium. After the go-ahead score, Sacred Heart got all the way to the Marist 43-yard line before a pair of penalties bogged down the drive and resulted in a turnover on downs. Calhoun carried the ball eight times for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Michael White ran for a touchdown and passed for another, completing 15-of-36 passes for 342 yards.

MOREHEAD STATE (1-2) def. Kentucky Christian (0-3), 28-0

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Quarterback Austin Gahafer ran for a touchdown and passed for three more in Morehead State's 28-0 victory against Kentucky Christian, Saturday, in the home opener at Jayne Stadium. Gahafer completed 21-of-36 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns and added 10 yards rushing. Meanwhile, the Eagles defense limited Kentucky Christian to 43 passing yards of 32 pass attempts while also recording five takeaways (four fumble recoveries).

BUTLER (2-1) def. Taylor (1-2), 41-10

UPLAND, Ind. – Quarterback Matt Shiltz found wideout Danny Cotter for a 67-yard go-ahead touchdown pass early in the second quarter as Butler romped to a 41-10 victory against Taylor, Saturday, at Turner Stadium. Butler trailed twice in the contest, at 0-7 and 7-10, before Shiltz' touchdown put it ahead for good. The touchdown was the first of 20 points Butler scored in the quarter to build a 27-10 halftime lead. Shiltz completed 20-of-33 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns then ran for two touchdowns on five carries for 78 yards.

Presbyterian (1-2) def. CAMPBELL (2-1), 23-13

CLINTON, S.C. – Campbell scored the game's first touchdown but could not build on its advantage in a 23-13 nonconference loss to Presbyterian, Saturday, at Turner Stadium. Campbell found the end zone when quarterback Kameron Bryant found running back Jared Joyner for a 53-yard touchdown catch-and-carry. Presbyterian got on the board courtesy a blocked PAT returned for a defensive conversion. It was the first of 23 straight points scored by the Blue Hose, the Camels only breaking through again early in the fourth quarter. Bryant completed 9-of-18 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw a pair of interceptions.
