Presbyterian 21, Virginia Univ. of Lynchburg 13
CLINTON, S.C. - Nate Hayden threw three touchdowns and led Presbyterian to a home-opening victory against Virginia University of Lynchburg, Saturday, at Bailey Memorial Stadium. VU-Lynchburg scored first, recovering a Presbyterian fumble and returning it 50 yards for a touchdown. Hayden leveled the score just before halftime, finding Dominic Kibby for a 41-yard touchdown pass. In the second half, it was Hayden and Worth Warner connected twice for touchdowns, giving Stetson a 21-7 lead that proved enough. Hayden completed 21-of-32 passes for 253 yards with Kibby catching seven passes for 110 yards.

Youngstown State 49, Dayton 16
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown State scored 21 points in the first quarter and didn't look back, downing Dayton 49-16 in Saturday action at Stambaugh Stadium. YSU's Demeatric Crenshaw connected with three different receivers for the three first-quarter touchdowns as the Penguins raced out to the 21-0 lead. Dayton got on the board with Sam Webster's 34-yard field goal early in the second quarter. The Flyers would add touchdowns in the second and fourth quarters. Dante Casciola found Jake Chisholm for an eight-yard touchdown in the first half before running for a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Casciola completed 17-of-26 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown to lead Dayton, which finished with just 189 offensive yards.

St. Thomas 32, Michigan Tech 6
ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Thomas scored 20 points in the second quarter and did not allow a touchdown, and downed visiting Michigan Tech, 32-6, Saturday at O'Shaughnessy Stadium. St. Thomas running back Shawn Shipman opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run on the game's opening drive. He would also score another one-yard touchdown with just 19 seconds remaining as part of a 22-carry, 151-yard performance. But the Tommies scored the eventual game-winning touchdown when linebacker Ryan Sever blocked a punt and Mitchell Schares recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown, extending the Tommies lead to 13-3. St. Thomas' defense held Michigan Tech to 150 yards of offense.

Missouri S&T 17, Drake 14
DES MOINES, Iowa - Ian Corwin found Brandon Langdok for a touchdown with 1:20 left to force overtime, but Drake would be kept off the scoreboard in the extra period and dropped a 17-14 decision to Missouri S&T, Saturday, at Drake Stadium. Missouri S&T scored the game's first two touchdowns before Corwin would lead the Bulldogs back with touchdown throws in the third and fourth quarters. In the overtime frame, Drake held Missouri S&T to a 26-yard field goal. But on Drake's possession, the offense was forced into a 43-yard field goal attempt which it did not convert. Corwin completed 15-of-40 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 53 yards on 17 carries.

Montana State 63, Morehead State 13
BOZEMAN, Mont. - Montana State scored the game's first 35 points and held Morehead State without an offensive touchdown in a 63-13 victory, Saturday, at Bobcat Stadium. Quarterback Sean Chambers led Montana State to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter before departing. Morehead State would break through before halftime courtesy Nathan Hazlett's 40-yard field goal to set a 35-3 halftime score. Hazlett would add a 37-yard field goal in the third quarter before Javian Browder recovered a fumble in the end zone to cap the Eagles' scoring. Grady Cramer completed 13-of-29 passes for 89 yards to pace the Morehead State offense.

Cal Poly 28, San Diego 27
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - San Diego jumped out to a 17-0 lead, but Cal Poly scored the go-ahead touchdown with 2:20 left to escape with a 28-27 victory, Saturday, at Spanos Stadium. San Diego dominated the first half with Re-al Mitchell throwing two touchdowns in the opening half, the first to Dylan Lawson and the second to Judd Erickson, to build a 17-0 lead. Cal Poly scored the game's next two touchdowns only to see San Diego respond with a touchdown and a field goal to hold a 27-14 advantage with 12:11 remaining. But San Diego's final three drives resulted in two interceptions and a turnover on downs. Meanwhile, Cal Poly scored a pair of touchdowns to take a 28-27 lead with 2:20 remaining. Judd Erickson led San Diego with a 19-of-32 passing performance for 232 yards and a touchdown.

Stetson 45, Louisiana Christian 14
DeLAND, Fla. - After battling to a 14-14 halftime score, Stetson held Louisiana Christian scoreless in the second half and pulled away for a 45-14 victory, Saturday, at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium. Brady Meitz broke the halftime tie when he found Nazeviah Burris for a 47-yard touchdown strike. Meitz would throw another touchdown in the second half as Stetson extended its lead. He finished the day 25-of-48 passing for 444 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. Burris caught seven passes for 180 yards and a touchdown. 

Davidson 37, Barton 17 
DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson amassed 403 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns on the ground to down Barton 37-17, Saturday, at Richardson Stadium. With the game tied 14-14, Dylan Sparks capped a drive with an eight-yard touchdown run to break the tie. On the next Davidson drive, Coy Williams' one-yard touchdown run punctuated a 15-play, 99-yard drive for a 27-14 halftime lead and Davidson would not be threatened again. Williams finished 88 yards, and a touchdown on 19 carries to lead Davidson's offense.

Butler 45, Taylor 10
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Butler surrendered the game's opening touchdown but responded with the next 42 points to race past Taylor, 45-10, Saturday at the Sellick Bowl. Butler rushed for 290 yards on 49 carries and had four different runners score a touchdown. Quarterback Bret Bushka's six-yard touchdown run in the first quarter tied the game, 7-7, with 7:32 left in the quarter. Brody Reder and Joey Suchy each ran for touchdowns in the second quarter as Butler built a 21-7 halftime lead. Bushka completed 14-of-20 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown and added 80 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.

Illinois State 28, Valparaiso 21
NORMAL, Ill. - Valparaiso closed within a single score in the fourth quarter, but a pair of Illinois State interceptions thwarted the Beacons' upset bid, and the Redbirds escaped with a 28-21 victory. Mason Kaplan hit Evan Jernegan for a 14-yard touchdown with 2:50 remaining to get Valparaiso within a touchdown. The Beacons then recovered an on-side kick to set up a potential game-tying score. But Illinois State intercepted a pass to kill the drive and take possession with 1:30 left. Valparaiso used its timeouts well and forced a turnover on downs with just 43 seconds left but with the ball on its own 36-yard line. But the Beacons could only move the ball six yards before another Illinois State interception ended the threat. Kaplan completed 17-of-33 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Valparaiso offense.
