WEEK 6 PREVIEW
League-leading Davidson has the week off, meaning Marist and Morehead State have an opportunity to equal the leader’s 2-0 start… Marist, fresh off an overtime road win, returns home to host Stetson in a matchup of the league’s two most productive running backs in Stetson’s Jalen Leary (357 yards, 3 TDs) and Marist’s Hunter Cobb (251 yards, 2 TDs)… Morehead State heads across the Appalachians to meet Presbyterian in what promises to be an offense slugfest with the leagues two most productive quarterbacks facing off in Presbyterian’s Ren Hefley (1,489 yards, 17 TDs) facing Morehead State’s Mark Pappas (1,228 yards, 12 TDs)… San Diego travels east for a meeting with Butler in a matchup of two offenses trying to find their footing; San Diego averaging 284 yards per game in its first two games with four touchdowns while Butler is averaging 240 yards per game in league action… Dayton is back on the road west to Drake this week in a battle of 1-1 squads looking to keep pace in the early league race. Dayton has posted a league-best 101 points in its first two league outings while Drake is holding opponents to a league-leading 13.5 points per game… Valparaiso travels to St. Thomas in another matchup of 1-1 teams who are evenly matched offensively with each team scoring six touchdowns in its first two league games with St. Thomas entering the game with a small 379-365 edge in yardage per game in PFL play.

WEEK 5 LEADS
All five PFL contests in Week 5 were decided by a touchdown or less and two games went into overtime… Davidson emerged atop the PFL standings with a 2-0 record with Marist and Morehead State right behind the Wildcats at 1-0… Cross Robinson scored on a six-yard burst into end zone, leading Drake to a 6-3 PFL victory at Butler… Austin Day found Max Mazzela for a 25-yard touchdown in overtime to fend off a late Valparaiso run in a 27-24 overtime victory… Dylan Sparks’ one-yard touchdown run capped a seven-play, 75-yard drive with 3:31 remaining and Justin Agner notched a sack on the game’s final play to help Davidson secure a 35-28 PFL victory at Stetson… Tyler Noble intercepted a Jack Cook pass in overtime, helping Morehead State upend Dayton, 45-38, in double overtime… San Diego’s defense and special teams combined to score the game’s final 13 points in a 27-24 PFL victory against St. Thomas.

FOUR PFL ATHLETES NAMED CAMPBELL TROPHY SEMIFINALISTS
Davidson slot back Eli Turner, Marist safety Kyle Fleitman, Stetson defensive lineman Fermon Reid and Dayton safety Brandon Easterling were each named as semifinalists for the 2021 NFF William V. Campbell Trophy, Sept. 29. The Campbell Trophy is college football’s premier scholar-athlete award, recognizing an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. The NFF will announce 12-14 finalists on Oct. 27, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2021 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments.
