Davidson 56, Stetson 48 (2OT)
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Dylan Sparks three-yard run in the second overtime helped Davidson survive a scare from Stetson, 56-48, in PFL action Saturday at Richardson Stadium. Stetson had upset on its mind as Brady Meitz threw for six touchdowns – one shy of the PFL single-game record – including a game-tying 30-yard toss to Michael Carley with 54 seconds left in regulation. Sparks ran for 97 yards and two touchdowns – part of a Davidson run game that amassed 350 yards and five touchdowns on 73 combined carries. Meitz completed 21-of-40 passes for 379 yards with touchdown passes to four different receivers.

Dayton 52, Presbyterian 28
CLINTON, S.C. – Dayton raced out to a 35-7 first-half lead and didn’t look back in a 52-28 PFL victory against Presbyterian, Saturday, at Bailey Memorial Stadium. Jake Chisolm caught one touchdown and ran for two more as part of the Flyers’ opening salvo, which also included a blocked punt returned for a touchdown. Presbyterian would score just before the end of the first half and opened the second half with AJ Seay’s pick-six to close back within two scores, 35-21, with 12:57 left in the third quarter. Dayton answered with Sam Webster’s 29-yard field goal and Chisolm tacked on this third rushing scoring to secure the win. Chisholm ran for 156 yards on 24 carries to lead Dayton. Dominic Kibby caught all three of the Blue Hose’s offensive touchdowns as part of a seven-catch, 212-yard day.  

St. Thomas 34, Valparaiso 7
VALPARAISO, Ind. – Grif Wurtz’ 79-yard fumble return for a touchdown set the tone early as St. Thomas improved to 6-0 in PFL play with a 34-7 victory at Valparaiso, Saturday at Brown Field. Valparaiso appeared to gain the game’s momentum with Ben Hines interception on the opening drive. But that momentum would turn completely four plays later when Jonathan Bunce sacked the Beacons’ quarterback and forced a fumble. Wurtz picked up the loose ball and rumbles 79 yards for the game’s first score. St. Thomas would extend the lead to 21-0 before Valparaiso would score its lone touchdown on Aaron Dawson’s one-yard run with 7:16 left in the third quarter. Owen Kanzler’s 89-yard kickoff return for a touchdown was the Tommies immediate response, securing the win. St. Thomas ran for 222 yards and two touchdowns on 45 carries. Hope Adebayo led that effort with 128 rushing yards. Aaron Dawson ran for 62 yards and a touchdown to lead the Valparaiso offense.

Butler 26, San Diego 23
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Luka Suzak’s 56-yard field goal as time expired gave Butler a 26-23 PFL victory against San Diego, Saturday, at Torero Stadium. The win was Butler’s first in San Diego since 2009. Butler trailed 23-13 after San Diego’s Aidan Lehman hit a 23-yard field goal with 13:33 left in the game. Zurak started the Butler comeback with a 44-yard field goal with 7:35 left. The Butler defense forced a three-and-out and Bret Bushka led the Bulldogs on a seven-play, 71-yard drive, capped by his 21-yard touchdown pass to Luke Wooten with 2:13 left. Again, the Bulldogs defense forced a quick three-and-out, and a 40-yard punt put Butler on its own 40-yard line with 76 seconds left. Seven plays later, Zurak lined up the 56-yarder and put it through the uprights for the win. Zurak connected on four field goals in the win and was responsible for 14 points. San Diego’s Judd Erickson completed 24-of-34 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns.

Marist 31, Morehead State 21
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Marist scored the game’s final 10 points to escape with a 31-21 PFL victory against Morehead State, Saturday, at Jayne Stadium. Morehead State tied the game, 21-21, on Colin Parachek’s seven-yard touchdown pass to Christian Graves with 11:50 left in the game. Marist would take the lead again seven minutes later, Brock Bagozzi connecting with Wyatt McMahon for a nine-yard touchdown pass. Luke Paladino kicked a 46-yard field goal with 2:26 left to secure the win. Bagozzi completed 21-of-30 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns to lead Marist. Parachek completed 17-of-32 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns for Morehead State.
