SIX PFL STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED CAMPBELL TROPHY SEMIFINALISTS | Campbell kicker/punter Brian Stryffeler, Davidson quarterback Taylor Mitchell, Dayton linebacker Jack Crain, Marist running back Marcellus Calhoun, San Diego nickelback Max Michaels and Stetson tight end Austin Tyrrell were among 181 semifinalists for the Campbell Trophy which recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation and is prominently displayed inside its official home at the New York Athletic Club.

WOODS FIRST PFL ATHLETE TO EARN NATIONAL HONOR | Campbell running back Montel Goods became the first Pioneer Football League athlete to earn a weekly national honor in 2017, earning STATS FCS National Freshman of the Week, Monday. His three touchdown outing moved him atop the PFL leaderboard in rushing touchdowns this season, his five scores matching Valparaiso’s Cody Boxrucker with both ranked 11th among FCS runners.

NEW NAME FOR BUTLER HOME FACILITY | The longtime home for Butler football received a new name in September when the Butler Bowl was renamed the Sellick Bowl in honor of longtime supporters Winstan and Jacqueline Sellick. The renaming was in recognition of a $9.4-million gift from their estate to the university, shared among the athletics department, the Lacy School of Business and the university.

OPPORTUNISTIC CAMELS AND RED FOXES | Campbell and Marist are among a group of just 25 FCS teams with multiple defensive touchdowns this season. The Camels three defensive scores (two interceptions, one fumble) has them tied for second among FCS teams, behind North Carolina A&T (five defensive touchdowns). Marist has two defensive touchdowns (one interception, one fumble) and is tied for fifth among FCS squads.
