Campbell University accepts bid to join Pioneer Football League

Pioneer Football League Commissioner Patty Viverito announced that Campbell University has accepted the league's invitation for membership. Campbell, which announced its return to intercollegiate football in April 2006, will begin league play in 2008 as the league's ninth member. PFL teams will compete in a full round-robin schedule. Dayton posts big second half to win second Gridiron Classic

Kevin Hoyng threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns as Dayton scored 28 points in the second half to beat Albany, 42-21 in the 2007 Gridiron Classic on Saturday at a cold and windy Welcome Stadium. READ MORE...

Pioneer Football League announces postseason honors, 15th All-PFL squad

Pioneer Football League officials announced today the winners of its postseason honors and the All-Pioneer Football League first and second teams. All selections were made by the league’s coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Dayton picked up three of the PFL’s postseason honors: senior quarterback Kevin Hoyng was named the PFL’s “Offensive Player of the Year,” freshman defensive back Joe Castaneda was selected the league’s “Freshman of the Year” and head coach Mike Kelly was named the league’s “Coach of the Year.” San Diego defensive lineman Eric Bakhtiari was the league’s “Defensive Player of the Year.”
