Offensive Player of the Week
Desmond Cox (MOR)
Cox rushed for 218 yards and two touchdowns as Morehead State posted a 55-35 PFL victory against Butler, Saturday. His 218 yards – on just 27 carries – are the most by a PFL runner this season and the most since the 2007 campaign. Cox opened the game with a PFL record tying 92-yard touchdown run and capped the day with a four-yard touchdown run that was the game’s final score. He also caught five passes for 58 yards and finished the day with 276 all-purpose yards. Cox averaged 8.1 yards per run and 8.6 yards per play on the day.
Defensive Player of the Week
Mario Kurn (SAN)
Kurn capped his career with a 3½ sack effort, including a forced fumble and led San Diego to a 23-14 PFL victory against Jacksonville, Saturday, and a share of its fourth PFL Championship. He finished the day with 10 tackles (eight solo) including 3½ tackles for loss that each were recorded against the quarterback. Kurn’s biggest play may have come on Jacksonville’s final drive as he forced a fumble at the San Diego 27-yard line that was recovered by the Toreros and enabled them to run out the clock on their ensuing possession for the win.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Rainer Duzan (MOR)
Duzan again handled all of Morehead State’s kicking duties with aplomb in a 55-35 PFL victory against Butler, Saturday. Offensively, he was responsible for 12 points – making both of his field goal tries, including a career-long 49-yarder – and converting all six PATs. Duzan handled six of the Eagles nine kickoffs, averaging 51.7 yards per kick. He also punted four times, averaging 41.5 yards per punt and placed two inside the 20-yard line with no touchbacks.
