Offensive Player of the Week
Steve Valentino (DAY)
Valentino was the go-to guy as Dayton stayed unbeaten in PFL play with a 21-14 come-from-behind victory against San Diego, Saturday. Down 14-7 at halftime, Valentino rushed for two second-half touchdowns. He capped an 11-play, 73-yard drive with a 15-yard touchdown run to tie the game in the third quarter. Valentino gave Dayton the lead with a one-yard scoring run that capped a nine-play, 61-yard drive. He completed 13-of-33 passes for 185 yards and a first-quarter touchdown. On the ground, he carried the ball 17 times for 107 yards and the two touchdowns. He finished the day with 292 yards of total offense.
Defensive Player of the Week
Cody Lyon (CAM)
Lyon had two interceptions and ran one back for a touchdown to help Campbell secure a 31-22 PFL victory against Morehead State, Saturday. His interception in the second quarter stopped a Morehead State scoring drive at the Campbell 16-yard line and kept the Camels within a point, 14-13, at halftime. Lyon’s returned his second interception 45 yards for a touchdown for Campbell’s final score, cementing the victory. He also had nine tackles (seven solo) and was the team’s second-leading tackler.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Adam Willets (CAM)
Willets made three field goals for the second consecutive week and kept Campbell close early on in its 31-22 PFL victory against Morehead State, Saturday. He opened the game’s scoring with a 39-yard boot in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Willets booted a career-long 44-yard field goal to narrow the deficit to 14-13 at halftime. His third-quarter, 29-yard field goal gave Campbell the lead again and they would not surrender it. He made all three of his field goals and tacked on a pair of PATs to finish with 11 points. Willets also averaged 57.6 yards on his seven kickoffs.
