Offensive Player of the Week
Chris Debowski (MAR)
Debowski put together a pair of critical fourth-quarter scoring drives to lead Marist in a 31-27 come-from-behind victory against Jacksonville, Saturday. Down 27-17, he threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver James LaMacchia on 4th-and-2. Then with seven seconds remaining and on 4th-and-12, he threw a 26-yard touchdown to wideout Kevin Fitzpatrick for the game-winning score. Debowski finished the day completing 20-of-34 passes for a career-high 327 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 36 yards on 11 carries to finish with 363 yards of offense.
Defensive Player of the Week
Alex Griswold (DAV)
Griswold filled up the stat sheet to lead Davidson’s defense in a 16-10 victory against Morehead State, Saturday. He finished the day with six tackles, including five solo stops. Grisowold also had three tackles for loss, including a pair of quarterback sacks. One of those sacks resulted in a lost fumble that ended Morehead State’s final drive. It was one of two fumbles he forced during the day – Davidson forced five fumbles total – and also broke up a pass. Behind Griswold’s effort, the Wildcats defense limited the Eagles to 185 yards of offense, including just 59 yards rushing.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Brandon Wubs (DRA)
Wubs led all PFL scorers with 13 points in Week 6 to lead Drake in its 19-0 non-conference victory against Missouri S&T, Saturday. He made all four of his field-goal attempts, converting tries from 36, 33, 45 and 29 yards. Wubs 45-yard field goal was a career-best. He also punted three times, averaging 35.3 yards per punt. The league’s second-leading scorer this season, this is Wubs’ second Special Teams citation this season, winning the league’s Week 1 award.
