Offensive Player of the Week
Steve Valentino (DAY)
An All-PFL wideout in 2008, Valentino moved behind center and threw two touchdown passes to lead Dayton in a 21-14 victory at Robert Morris, Saturday. He received word of his position change, Tuesday, giving him four days preparation. Despite the limited prep time, Valentino completed 14-of-29 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns, including the eventual game winner. He also led the Flyers ground attack with 21 carries for 58 yards to finish with 250 yards of total offense.
Defensive Player of the Week
James Veracammen (DAY)
Veracammen led Dayton’s defense that held Robert Morris to 153 yards total offense in a 21-14 road victory, Saturday. He led the Flyers with 12 tackles (10 solo) and had three tackles for loss, including a quarterback sack. Dayton’s defense limited the Colonials to one third down conversion in 14 tries.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Rainer Duzan (MOR)
Given a second chance, Duzan drilled a 45-yard field goal in the second overtime of a 13-10 victory at North Carolina Central, Saturday. He also booted a 27-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to tie the game and force the extra frames. His only miss came in the first overtime as he missed a 38-yard try but he recovered just moments later for the win.
