MACOMB, Ill. – Valparaiso could muster just 131 yards total offense against a stout Western Illinois defense and lost to Western Illinois, 45-0, Thursday night at Hanson Field. Crusaders quarterback Nate Goergen completed 13-of-24 passes for 81 yards, including four passes caught by wideout Sean McCarty for 32 yards. In addition, Valparaiso committed three turnovers, all fumbles in the driving rain, which ultimately led to 21 Western Illinois points.
