Mills passed for 402 yards to help San Diego win a 42-40 non-conference contest at Azusa Pacific, Saturday. He was one of only two FCS quarterbacks to pass for more than 400 yards over the opening week of play. Mills completed 27-of-42 passes, including four touchdown strikes. Three of those touchdown throws came in a wild fourth quarter that saw San Diego overcome a 19-15 deficit entering the period. In the fourth, Mills was 8-of-13 for 173 yards, with touchdown throws of 59, six and 35 yards to three different receivers.
