POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Drake took advantage of six Marist turnovers en route to a 34-6 victory, Saturday, in the Pioneer Football League opener. The Bulldogs scored 24 points off those six turnovers and won the battle of field position, with their average starting position on their own 47-yard line. Drake quarterback Mike Piatkowski led the offense with 184 yards on 22-of-33 passing, including one touchdown strike. Marist signal called Chris Debowski completed 12-of-21 passes for 143 yards but also had two passes intercepted. 

Birmingham-Southern def. Campbell, 35-28 | Campbell Recap
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern scored the only touchdown in overtime to post a 38-25 victory against Campbell, Saturday at Panther Stadium. Campbell rallied back from a 20-9 deficit and forced overtime with 50 secconds remaining as Carl Smith scored from two yards out. The Panthers moved backwards on their first two plays in overtime but recovered with Tay Walker's 32-yard touchdown pass. The Camels saw their final oppoortunity to tie the game intercepted in the end zone. Running backs C.J. Oates (115 yards) and Daniel Polk (105 yards) each rushed for more than 100 yards.

Lenoir-Rhyne def. Davidson, 42-0 | Davidson Recap
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson saw its scoring drought continue as it suffered its second straight shutout in a 42-0 loss to Lenoir-Rhyne, Saturday, at Richardson Stadium. The Wildcats amassed only 164 yards of total offense, quarterback Michael Blanchard accounting for 190 yards on 13-of-31 passing, but also saw three pases intercepted.

Urbana def. Dayton, 13-10 | Dayton Recap
DAYTON, Ohio – Dayton saw its season-opener spoiled as Urbana pulled off a 13-10 victory, Saturday, at Welcome Stadium. Flyer quarterback Jared Phillip completed 14-of-32 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown but was stricken by three intercepted passes. The Flyers ground game was limited to 10 total yards on 20 carries.

St. Francis (Pa.) def. Morehead State, 31-0 | Morehead State Recap
LORETTO, Pa. – Morehead State also was bitten by the turnover bug in its road opener, falling 31-0 to St. Francis (Pa.), Saturday at DelGol Field. The Eagles committed five turnovers – three interception and two fumbles lost – and St. Francis scored 21 points off the miscues. Morehead State's offense racked up only 152 yards offensively, including only 24 yards on the ground.

Butler def. Franklin, 49-19 | Butler Recap
FRANKLIN, Ind. – Visiting Butler amassed 461 yards offensively and posted a 49-19 victory against Franklin, Saturday, at Faught Stadium. Butler quarterback Andrew Huck followed his PFL Offensive Player of the Week honor with a 33-of-48, 316-yard, four touchdown passing performance. The Bulldogs scored at least 10 points in every quarter.

Valparaiso def. Concordia (Wis.), 20-17 | Valparaiso Recap
MEQUON, Wis. – Bobby Wysocki completed a 24-yard pass to John popper to help Valparaiso complete a 20-17 come-from-behind victory against Concordia, Saturday, at Century Stadium. Wysocki completed 8-of-18 passes for 133 yards, but had just the one touchdown. The Crusaders were outgained, 280-211.

Northern Colorado def. San Diego, 31-12 | San Diego Recap
GREELEY, Colo. – San Diego's offense mustered just 248 total yards in a 31-21 loss to Northern Colorado, Saturday, at Nottingham Field. Senior quarterback Sebastian Trujillo completed 18-of-37 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown, but also tossed four interceptions. The Bears offense rolled up 477 total yards, running back Andre Harris rushing for 152 yards and two touchdowns.

Samford def. Jacksonville, 27-0 | Jacksonville Recap
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Jacksonville was limited to 101 yards of offense in a 27-0 loss to Samford, Saturday, at Seibert Stadium. Running back Rudell Small rushed for 53 yards and quarterback Josh McGregor passed for another 62 to account for most of the offense.
