Morehead State def. Southern Virginia, 49-6
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Sophomore quarterback Evan Sawyer, making his first collegiate start, posted nearly 200 yards in total offense to lead Morehead State to a 49-6 victory over Southern Virginia, Saturday night, at Jayne Stadium. Sawyer completed 10-of-20 passes for 131 yards, including a touchdown, and added 63 yards on 10 carries and another touchdown. Birmingham-Southern def. Campbell, 12-6
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell saw its return to collegiate football spoiled by a 12-6 loss to Birmingham-Southern, Saturday afternoon, at newly named Barker-Lane Stadium. The Camels defense held the visiting Panthers scoreless until the 12:58 mark of the fourth quarter, but the offense was only able to post a pair of Adam Willets field goals in the loss. Jacksonville def. Savannah State, 20-7
SAVANNAH, Ga. – After being shutout in the first half, head coach Kerwin Bell sent in freshman quarterback Josh McGregor for the second half and saw Jacksonville post a 20-7 come-from-behind victory, Saturday afternoon, at Memorial Stadium. McGregor completed 9-of-14 passes for 159 yards – JU managed just 109 yards total offense in the first half – and added a 13-yard rushing touchdown to his second half tally.
