NICHOLLS 49, SAN DIEGO 30
THIBODAUX, La. – Chase Fourcade ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more, leading Nicholls to a 49-30 victory against San Diego, Saturday, in the opening round of the 2018 Division I Football Championship.

The two teams traded touchdowns to start the game, San Diego's Anthony Lawrence tying the game at 7-7 with a 10-yard strike to Dalton Kincaid. However, Nicholls scored twice more in the first quarter, opening up a 21-7 lead. The Colonels extended its lead with another 21-point burst surrounding the halftime break and led 35-10 after Fourcade found Damino Jeanpiere for a 17-yard touchdown with 10 minutes left in the third quarter.

Lawrence would lead the Toreros to the game's next 21 points, hitting Dalton Kincaid from 38-, 8- and 17-yards as they closed the deficit to 42-30 just seconds in the fourth quarter. However, San Diego would not score again and Fourcade would add a 13-yard touchdown run to cap the day's scoring.

Lawrence capped his collegiate career with a 30-of-56 passing performance that included 322 yards and four touchdowns. Kincaid caught five passes for 87 yards, including four for touchdowns. San Diego was held to nine rushing yards on 14 attempts.

Fourcade passed for 337 yards on 21-of-31 passing and ran for another 82 yards on 15 carries.
