INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – San Diego, the Pioneer Football League champion, will face Northern Arizona in an 8 p.m. (ET), Saturday contest in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Division I Football Championship at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The Toreros (9-2, 8-0 PFL) will make its third appearance in the championship and is the only PFL team to make multiple appearances since the league gained an automatic bid in 2013. Last season, San Diego won its first-round contest at Cal Poly, becoming the first PFL program to win in the NCAA Division I Football Championship.

Northern Arizona (7-4, 6-2 Big Sky) received an at-large bid into the championship. The Lumberjacks finished in a three-way tie for second in the Big Sky Conference with their lone conference losses coming in road contests to Montana and Southern Utah. It is NAU's sixth appearance in the NCAA Championship and first since 2013.

The winner of this first round contest will play at No. 2 seed North Dakota State on Saturday, Dec. 2nd.  North Dakota State is currently 10-1 on the season.
