WEEK 3 RECAPS

Princeton 27, San Diego 17
PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton scored the game's first 14 points and held on for a 27-17 victory against San Diego, Saturday, at Princeton Stadium. Trailing 14-0 early in the second half, San Diego closed within four points, 14-10,  by halftime thanks to Anthony Lawrence finding Michael Keating for a touchdown and Patrick Murray connecting on a 26-yard field goal. After Princeton extended its lead with a pair of field goals, San Diego responded when Christian Brooks found Justin Priest for a touchdown, narrowing the gap again to 20-17. Princeton sealed the win late in the fourth quarter on Chad Knoff's third touchdown throw. Lawrence completed 27-of-42 passes for 293 yards and a touchdown to pace the Toreros.

Jacksonville 56, Walsh 31
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville scored five touchdowns in the first half and never looked back in a 56-31 victory against Walsh, Saturday, at D.B. Milne Field. Dolphins quarterback Rylan Wells bookended the 35-point first half with touchdown throws to Jamal Adjamah and Keenan Simpson. Wells completed 14-of-18 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Dolphins 489-yard attack.

Marist 14, Georgetown 12
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Marist scored all of its points in the opening 15:34 and held on for a 14-12 victory against Georgetown, Saturday. Mike White found David Shannon for a five-yard touchdown pass and on the next drive, Marcellus Calhoun scored from six-yards out to give the Red Foxes a 14-0 lead. Georgetown would score a pair of touchdowns in the second half but saw a PAT kick blocked and a two-point conversion failed to help Marist secure the win. White completed 29-of-47 passes for 236 yards to account for the bulk of the Red Foxes, 294 offensive yards.  

Duquesne 28, Dayton 23
DAYTON, Ohio – Dayton had few answers for quarterback Tommy Stuart, who accounted for four touchdowns and led Duquesne to 28-23 victory, Saturday. Stuart's six-yard run with 9:06 left gave the Dukes a 28-17 lead, their largest of the contest. Dayton responded when Tucker Yinger scored from five yards out five minutes later, but a two-point conversion failed, leaving the Flyers facing a five-point deficit they could not cover. Dayton's Kyle Kaparos completed 12-of-26 passes for 121 yards. Christian Searles had a 71-yard punt return for a touchdown late in the second quarter.

Valparaiso 44, Trinity International 10
DEERFIELD, Ill. – Valparaiso amassed 518 offensive yards to swamp Trinity International, 44-10, Saturday. Frank Catrine gave the Crusaders the lead for good with touchdowns on back-to-back drives, running for a 49-yard score as the first-quarter gun sounded and following that with a 12-yard touchdown reception on Valparaiso's first drive of the second quarter. Cody Boxrucker would seal the win with touchdown runs on back-to-back Valparaiso drives in the third quarter. They were two of his three touchdowns on the day as he paced the Crusader offense.

Dartmouth 38, Stetson 7
DELAND, Fla. – Dartmouth scored the game's final 31 points and amassed 406 offensive yards to down Stetson, 38-7, Saturday. The Hatters responded with the game's first touchdown by piecing together a 13-play, 75-yard drive capped by Colin McGovern finding Justin Jordan for a six-yard touchdown strike. However, Stetson was held to just 94 offensive yards on the day.

Butler 27, Taylor 21
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Will Marty found the end zone from one yard out with seven seconds left and Butler pulled out a 27-21 victory against Taylor, Saturday. In addition to his game-winning touchdown dive, Marty completed 32-of-48 passes for 239 yards and a touchdown. Butler broke out to a 10-0 lead and didn't trail until Taylor's Spencer Crisp scored from 18 yards out for a 21-20 lead with 7:53 left. Marty then led the Bulldogs on a 10-play, 57-yard drive that concluded with his game-winning run.

Davidson 42, Guilford 21
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Tyler Phelps threw two touchdowns and ran for another as Davidson downed Guilford, 42-21, Saturday. Davidson jumped out to a 35-0 lead in the opening 26 minutes, but it was a stretch of four minutes in the second quarter that broke the game open. The Wildcats scored 21 points in the four-minute stretch with a Wesley Dugger touchdown run, Austin Wells returning a blocked punt 28-yards for a score and Phelps connecting on an 87-yard touchdown throw to Williams Wicks for a 35-0 lead. Phelps completed 20-of-30 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns to pace the Wildcats.

Austin Peay 69, Morehead State 13
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. –Jack Higginbotham caught a pair of touchdown passes but it was enough for Morehead State in a 69-13 loss to Austin Peay, Saturday. Austin Peay put together a pair of four touchdown runs, the first opening the game and the second following Higginbotham's touchdown reception late in the second quarter. Higginbotham caught three passes for 91 yards to pace the Eagles.

Presbyterian 28, Campbell 16
CLINTON, S.C. – Campbell struck first but could not overcome a 21-point second quarter as Presbyterian held on for a 28-16 victory, Saturday. Trailing 21-3 after three quarters, Campbell scored twice in the fourth with Montel Goods finding the end zone on a seven-yard run. After Presbyterian rebuilt its 21-point lead, Daniel Smith found Bryan Bailey for a 13-yard touchdown reception, but that score came with 28 seconds left and Campbell would not be able to close the gap further. Smith completed 15-of-29 passes for 186 yards to pace the Camels attack.

South Dakota State 51, Drake 10
BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State scored the game's first 34 points en route to a 51-10 victory against Drake, Saturday. Jackrabbits quarterback Taryn Christion passed for two touchdowns and ran for another as part of that 34-point game-opening burst. Danny Donley would hit a 24-yard field goal to break up the shutout bid and quarterback Grant Kraemer fournd Steven Doran for a 62-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter.
