JACSONVILLE, Fla. – Saturday's scheduled Pioneer Football League contest between Campbell and Jacksonville has been canceled as Jacksonville University begins recovery after the passage of Hurricane Matthew.

Jacksonville's official statement Saturday read:

After assessing the damage left by Hurricane Matthew, Jacksonville University's athletic department has decided to cancel its football game against Campbell University.

Despite efforts of rescheduling, the safety of our students, the Campbell program, and friends and family of the University is our primary concern. Our campus weathered the storm remarkably well, but there are areas in our beloved city that are still experiencing the hurricane's impact.
