MOREHEAD STATE defeated DAVIDSON, 40-32
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Morehead State scored 20 unanswered points to rally from an 18-7 deficit and claim a 40-32 Pioneer Football League victory against Davidson, Saturday, at Richardson Stadium. Davidson pushed its lead to 18-7 after running back J.P. Douglas broke through for a 23-yard touchdown run on the second play of the second quarter. However, Morehead State scored twice before the half ended, including a four-yard run from Brandon Bornhauser with 56 second left, to take a 21-18 halftime lead. Eagles kicker Luke Boyd extended that lead to 27-18 with a pair of third quarter field goals. Davidson cut the deficit to two points, 27-25, thanks to running back John Cook's 39-yard run to start the fourth quarter, but Morehead State scored the next 14 points to secure the win. The Eagles ground game gathered 273 yards and four touchdowns on 53 carries, as Rees Macshara led the way with 27 carries for 129 yards. Davidson's running attack provided 203 yards and three touchdowns on 36 carries, led by Cook's six carres for 56 yards and two touchdowns.

DRAKE defeated MARIST, 21-6
DES MOINES, Iowa – A defensive battle leaned towards homestanding Drake in a 21-6 Pioneer Football League victory against Marist, Saturday, at Drake Stadium. The two defensive units combined for five interceptions – Marist gaining a 3-2 edge in pickoffs – and the two offenses were held to a total of 539 yards. Offensively, Drake quarterback Andy Rice found Neko Graf from eight yards out with 35 seconds left in the first half for the go-ahead score and running back Conley Wilkins and Rice would each tack on a touchdown late. Marist kicker Mike Maccarone split the uprights from 21 and 24 yards for Marist's only scores. Rice finished the day completing 26-of-34 passes for 248 yards with a touchdown through the air and on the ground. Marist quarterback Ed Achziger completed 12-of-25 passes for 172 yards.

DAYTON defeated Robert Morris, 31-7
DAYTON, Ohio – Dayton scored the game's first 24 points and did not look back in a 31-7 nonconference victory against Robert Morris, Saturday, at Welcome Stadium. Flyers quarterback Will Bardo opened the game's scoring with a one-yard rushing touchdown then added a pair of passing scores to push the lead to 24-0 just before the half. Running back Connor Kacsor tacked on a two-yard scoring run near the end of the game to set the final score. Bardo completed 15-of-26 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Dayton offense. The Dayton defense picked off three passes in the contest and limited the Colonials to 257 offensive yards.

JACKSONVILLE defeated Penn, 34-31
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Kade Bell found D'Andre Randle for a 27-yard touchdown with 39 seconds remaining to help Jacksonville eke out a 34-31 victory against Penn in nonconference action at D.B. Milne Field. Penn led the entire first half and took a 17-13 lead into halftime. However, Jacksonville claimed its first lead, 19-17, with 7:34 left in the third quarter when Bell connected with Andy Jones for a 28-yard touchdown. Penn responded with two touchdowns less than two minutes apart to build a 31-19 lead after three quarters. Jacksonville got one of those touchdowns back when Bell connected with Ulysses Bryant for a seven-yard score. The Dolphins took the lead courtesy the Bell to Randle connection on its next drive and the defense stood firm with an interception on the ensuing Penn drive to seal the win.

STETSON defeated Birmingham-Southern, 37-19
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Stetson ran for four touchdowns and compiled 346 rushing yards in a 37-19 nonconference victory against Birmingham-Southern, Saturday, at Panther Stadium. Hatters running backs Cole Mazza and Jerami Singleton ran for 131 and 113 yards, respectively. Singleton had three touchdown carries, including a three-yard run with 35 seconds left in the third quarter that put Stetson ahead for good, 23-19.

VALPARAISO defeated William Jewell, 39-30
LIBERTY, Mo. – Valparaiso scored 32 unanswered points to post a 39-30 nonconference victory against William Jewell, Saturday, at Green Stadium. Trailing 22-7 at halftime, Valparaiso scored 18 points in the third quarter and the first 14 points of the fourth to rally past William Jewell. Quarterback Ben Lehman found Kent Warren from two-yards out to give Valparaiso its first lead with five minutes left in the third quarter. Running back Brandon Hall then added two touchdown runs in the fourth quarter to extend the Crusaders lead to 39-22. Valparaiso won despite being out-gained 410-286, thanks to a defensive effort that forced three turnovers and forced William Jewell to handover the ball three times on downs.

SAN DIEGO defeated Princeton, 39-29
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Keith Williams threw four touchdown passes to help San Diego rally past Princeton, 39-29, in Saturday nonconference action at Torero Stadium. After a Princeton touchdown put San Diego behind 22-21 in the third quarter, Williams connected with Reggie Bell for a 48-yard touchdown score that put San Diego ahead. Williams cemented the San Diego advantage early in the fourth quarter with a five-yard pass to D. Barksdale. Williams completed 10-of-24 passes for 277 yards and Bell caught four passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

BUTLER defeated Taylor, 38-3
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Matt Shiltz passed for three touchdowns and ran for two more and led Butler to a 38-3 victory against Taylor in nonconference action at the Butler Bowl. The game was delayed more than an hour due to thunderstorms and officially ended after the third quarter due to more approaching weather. In those three quarters, Shiltz completed 25-of-31 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns while adding two touchdowns on seven carries for 86 yards. He opened the scoring with a 13-yard run and later had a 74-yard touchdown run. His touchdown passes covered 18, 53 and 75 yards each.
