Dayton running back Connor Kacsor ran for 301 yards – second-most in PFL history – in the Flyers win against Georgetown. Drake, Morehead State and San Diego won home contests while Butler picked up a season-opening road wins. Butler, Dayton and San Diego each opened their seasons with wins after taking Week 1 off.

DAYTON defeated Georgetown, 23-14
DAYTON, Ohio – Behind a record-setting performance by senior running back Connor Kacsor, Dayton defeated Georgetown, 23-14, Saturday in its season opener at Welcome Stadium. Kacsor became the first Dayton runner to gain more than 300 yards in a single game, carrying the ball a career-high 34 times for 301 yards with one touchdown. Kacsor eclipsed Jermaine Bailey's old mark by 50 yards. After being held to just 14 yards in the first quarter, Kacsor exploded for 279 over the next three periods behind a line that returned just two starters from last season.

Appalachian State def. CAMPBELL, 66-0
BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State scored 45 first-half points to race past Campbell, 66-0, in nonconference action, Saturday, at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Mountaineers running back Marcus Cox ran for 114 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Campbell was held to 95 yards total offense with quarterback Dakota Wolf amassing 34 yards.

Bucknell defeated MARIST, 22-0
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Marist suffered a 22-0 nonconference loss to Bucknell in its home opener, Saturday, at Tenney Stadium. The Red Foxes were held to 138 offensive yards. Running back Atiq Lucas led the Red Foxes with 31 rushing yards on 13 carries. Junior quarterback Ed Achziger completed 15 of 24 passes for 119 yards. Bucknell quarterback Nitti was 21-for-31 for 241 yards through the air, with two touchdowns. Bisons running back C.J. Williams ran for 161 yards on 27 carries and a touchdown.

MOREHEAD STATE defeated Pikeville, 49-36
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State quarterback Austin Gahafer threw five touchdowns to lead the Eagles past Pikeville, 49-36, in nonconference action, Saturday. Gahafer completed 30-of-43 passes for 277 yards. The Eagles had to fend off a Pikeville fourth-quarter run – a 20-point burst that slashed the lead to 42-36 with 4:08 left. Brandon Bornhauser returned the ensuing onside kick 45 yards for a touchdown to secure the win.

Florida Tech defeated STETSON, 54-12
DeLAND, Fla. – Florida State scored 30 points in the opening 10:31 of the contest to get past Stetson, 54-12, in nonconference action, Saturday, at Spec Martin Stadium. Florida Tech quarterback Mark Cato ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more in the game-opening burst. Meanwhile, Stetson used three signal callers in the rain-soaked contest, the trio combining to complete only 8-of-20 passes for 57 yards. The Hatters broke up the shutout bid when defensive back Marlin Hall scooped up a fumble and returned it 77 yards for a touchdown with 13:28 remaining in the contest.

Catawba defeated DAVIDSON, 35-7
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Catawba scored the game's first 35 points en route to a 35-7 nonconference victory against Davidson, Saturday, at Richardson Stadium. Catawba quarterback Mike Sheehan threw three touchdown passes and completed 12-of-13 passes for 174 yards in the win. Davidson running back david Rogers scored on a one-yard burst with 7:37 left in the contest to deny the shutout. Wildcats quarterback J.P. Douglas completed 19-of-29 passes for 117 yards but threw two interceptions.

DRAKE defeated Truman State, 13-7 in overtime
DES MOINES, Iowa – Running back Conley Wilkins' two-yard touchdown run in overtime gave Drake a 13-7 nonconference victory against Truman State, Saturday, at Drake Stadium. Both teams scored in the game's opening quarter. Drake took the lead on Andy Rice's 11-yard touchdown pass to Eric Saubert at the 7:37 mark. Truman State answered just before the quarter ended when Devote Black scored from one-yard out with four seconds left. Neither team would score the rest of regulation. Truman State had the first possession of overtime, but could not record a first down and missed a 37-yard field goal attempt. Wilkins ran five times on Drake's possession, capping the drive with his touchdown leap.

BUTLER defeated WITTENBERG, 22-16
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Butler jumped out to a 22-3 lead after three quarters then held on to record a 22-16 victory against Wittenberg in nonconference action, Saturday, at Edwards-Maurer Field. The Bulldogs defense was responsible for the lone first half score when defensive lineman Kyle Annis tackled Wittenberg running back Sean Gary in the end zone for a safety. Neither team would score again until Wittenberg took its lone lead with a 22-yard field goal at the 11:24 mark of the third quarter. That lead lasted 20 seconds when Butler quarterback Matt Shiltz found Sam Schrader for a 63-yard touchdown pass. Butler would score twice more in the third quarter to build a 22-3 advantage. Wittenberg responded with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns but saw its final possession end when Butler defensive back JoJo Ciancio intercepted a pass at the Butler 28-yard line. Shlitz completed 19-of-32 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

St. Joseph's (Ind.) defeated VALPARAISO, 31-10
VALPARAISO, Ind. – Valparaiso scored the game's first points, but could not solve St. Joseph's in a 31-10 nonconference loss, Saturday, at Brown Stadium. The Crusaders opened the scoring with kicker Jacob Newman's 20-yard field goal with 4;16 left in the first quarter. St. Joseph's responded by scoring the game's next 24 points, running back Mike Anderson finding the end zone three times (two receptions, one rush). Valparaiso would find the end zone with 3:35 left in the third quarter when quarterback Ben Lehman found Andrew Cassara for an 11-yard touchdown strike. Lehman completed 24-of-47 passes for 234 yards and the touchdown. Wide receiver Tanner Kuramata was his favorite receiver, catching 14 passes for 148 yards.

SAN DIEGO defeated Western New Mexico, 23-17
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – San Diego jumped out to a 23-3 lead and held on for a 23-17 nonconference victory against Western New Mexico, Saturday, at Torero Stadium. San Diego quarterback Keith Williams completed 12-of-25 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns. He threw a 74-yard touchdown pass to Brandon White to open the game's scoring less than two minutes into the contest. He then found Reggie Bell for a 61-yard touchdown strike to put San Diego ahead 13-3 with 12:42 remaining in the second quarter. Western New Mexico scored twice in the fourth quarter but turned the ball over on downs inside the San Diego 20-yard line on their final possession. After getting to the San Diego 14-yard line, WNMU saw a runner tackled behind the line of scrimmage and two passes fall incomplete under San Diego pressure.
