CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Eight Pioneer Football League student-athletes have been named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) special teams lists.

Throughout the summer the CFPA is releasing preseason watch lists for players in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The lists highlight players whose performance merits recognition heading into the 2014 season.

The purpose of the CFPA is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. All CFPA recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration.

The watch lists will include the following categories: quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, defensive line, linebacker, defensive back, placekicker, punter, all-purpose performer, kickoff returner and punt returner.

The lists involving special teams positions have been released and include eight Pioneer Football League athletes. A total of 17 Pioneer Football League athletes were recognized on the CFPA's preseason lists.
