Four PFL defensive players named to CFPA preseason watch lists

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Throughout the summer the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) is releasing preseason watch lists for players in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The lists highlights players whose performance merits recognition heading into the 2014 season.

The purpose of the CFPA is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. All CFPA recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration.

The watch lists will include the following categories: quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, defensive line, linebacker, defensive back, placekicker, punter, all-purpose/kickoff returner and punt returner.

The three lists involving defensive positions have been released and include four Pioneer Football League athletes:

Defenisve End

  • Isaac Scott, Campbell

Defensive Back

  • Zach Adler, Marist
  • Chris Atkins, Stetson
  • Donald Payne, Stetson
