IN BRIEF

The PFL race was narrowed to two teams – Jacksonville and San Diego – after Week 11 action. The Dolphins shutout Davidson to stay atop the league while the Toreros downed Morehead State to keep pace. Dayton fell out of the group of one-loss teams, falling to Drake. However, the trio of Dayton, Drake and Campbell sit at two losses. Elsewhere, Stetson won its first home game of 2014 by downing Marist and Valparaiso claimed its first PFL win of 2014 by claiming the Hoosier Helmet with a win against Butler. Campbell picked up a nonconference win against Missouri Baptist.

LEAGUE RECAPS

JACKSONVILLE defeated Davidson, 56-0
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Jacksonville wrapped up a five-game road trip with a 56-0 PFL victory against Davidson, Saturday, at Richardson Stadium. The Dolphins scored on their opening drive and never looked back, amassing 703 offensive yards in the win. Kade Bell completed 20-of-24 passes for 417 yards and six touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville defense recorded five interceptions and held Davidson to 251 offensive yards.

CAMPBELL defeated Missouri Baptist, 66-7
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell scored two touchdowns in each quarter and finished with 788 offensive yards in a 66-7 nonconference win against Missouri Baptist, Saturday. The Camels ran 55 times for 521 yards and eight touchdowns, with seven different backs recording a touchdown. Akile Jones led the running effort with nine carries for 118 yards and a touchdown. Missouri Baptist broke through in the third quarter courtesy J.P. Lowery's 65-yard touchdown run, but that one play accounted for more than a third of the 169 offensive yards the Spartans counted.

DRAKE defeated DAYTON, 34-30
DAYTON, Ohio – Andy Rice found Michael Hudson for a 13-yard pass with 18 seconds remaining to give Drake its only lead of the contest, and the only one it would need in a 34-30 PFL victory against Dayton, Saturday, at Welcome Stadium. Dayton scored the game's first two touchdowns on runs by Will Bardo and Connor Kacsor. Drake would get within a PAT of tying the game late in the second quarter, but Nolan Harmotto picked up a blocked PAT and scrambled all the way to the Drake end zone for a defensive two-point conversion to hold on to the lead. Dayton took a 30-20 lead early in the third quarter, but Drake narrowed the deficit on Conley Wilkins' eight yard run. Dayton had a chance to build a seven-point advantage but missed a 24-yard field goal, setting up Drake's game-winning drive. The Bulldogs finished with 499 offensive yards – Rice finishing with 215 yards and three touchdowns through the air while running for another 99 on the ground. Dayton's Connor Kacsor carried the ball 23 times for 167 yards and two touchdowns to pace a 395 yard offensive attack.

VALPARAISO defeated BUTLER, 17-3
VALPARAISO, Ind. – Two second quarter touchdowns proved enough as Valparaiso defeated Butler, 17-3, in PFL action at Brown Field, Saturday. Quarterback Ben Lehman threw two touchdowns in the second frame, finding Spenser Pennington and Tony Taibi to take a 14-0 lead. Neither team could find the end zone the rest of the way, with the teams trading field goals over the final 38 minutes. Lehman paced the Crusaders with an 18-of-33 passing day for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Malcome Weaver's 17-of-37 passing outing for 186 yards led Butler which finished with 263 offensive yards.

STETSON defeated MARIST, 22-14
DeLAND, Fla. – Homecoming proved to be what Stetson needed to cure its home ills as it used a 22-14 PFL victory against Marist, Saturday, to win its first contest at Spec Martin Stadium this season. The Hatters rallied from a 14-8 halftime deficit by scoring twice in the fourth quarter. Kegan Moore's 78-yard run set up Cole Mazza's go-ahead one-yard plunge for a 15-14 lead. A.J. Washington tacked on a nine-yard touchdown run with 3:09 left to season the victory. Mazza, who also ran for the game's first touchdown, finished with 22 carries for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Anthony Francis completed 14-of-32 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns to lead Marist.

SAN DIEGO defeated MOREHEAD STATE, 49-28
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – San Diego scored 28 consecutive points to build a 28-7 halftime lead en route to a 49-28 PFL victory against Morehead State, Saturday, at Torero Stadium. Morehead State struck for the game's first score when Austin Gahafer connected with Tanner Napier for a 61-yard touchdown pass. San Diego responded with the game's next 28 points, including three Keith Williams touchdown passes to build a 28-7 halftime lead. The two teams traded touchdowns throughout the second half before settling on the final score. Williams completed 14-of-25 passes for 217 yards and four touchdowns while Jonah Hodges added 160 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries for San Diego. Gahafer completed 24-of-41 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns to pace Morehead State.
