IN BRIEF

Jacksonville, Dayton and Campbell each remained unbeaten in PFL play with wins, Saturday. Drake and San Diego kept pace with the league's leading trio, each picking up home wins. Valparaiso won a nonconference home contest. Individual highlights included Jacksonville quarterback Kade Bell throwing six touchdown passes, one shy of the PFL record, in a win against Morehead State while San Diego running back Jonah Hodges finished with 273 rushing yards in a win against Stetson.

LEAGUE RECAPS

CAMPBELL defeated BUTLER, 28-9
BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Dakota Wolf threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Campbell past Butler, 28-9 in Saturday PFL action at Barker-Lane Stadium. Wolf completed a school record 34 passes (42 attempts) for 306 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown pass to Jared Joyner to open the scoring in a game the Camels never trailed. Butler scored twice in the second quarter – a Jonathan Treloar 49-yard field goal and a Rico Watson four-yard run – and trailed 14-9 at halftime, but was held to 50 yards total offense in the second half. Butler starting quarterback Matt Shiltz was injured on the team's second drive and did not return. Malcolm Weaver entered the game and completed 14-of-29 passes for 166 yards.

DAYTON defeated MARIST, 31-21
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Dayton's defense forced seven turnovers, leading to 28 points, in a 31-21 PFL victory against Marist, Saturday, at Tenney Stadium. The game's momentum changed in the second quarter when Will Bardo found Ross Smith for a four-yard touchdown to put the Flyers ahead 21-14. On the ensuing kickoff, Dayton's Colin McManamon forced a fumble on the return and placekicker William Will recovered the loose ball and scampered 26 yards for a touchdown, pushing the advantage to 28-14 which Dayton did not relinquish. Bardo led the Dayton offense with a 19-for-27, 161-yard passing performance than included two touchdowns while also running for another score. Marist's Anthony Francis threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns, but also was intercepted four times.

JACKSONVILLE defeated MOREHEAD STATE, 45-26
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Kade Bell threw six touchdown passes as Jacksovnille sprinted past Morehead State, 45-26, in Saturday PFL action at Jayne Stadium. Bell completed 26-of-42 passes for a career-best 441 yards and his six touchdown passes were one shy of the PFL record. He threw touchdown passes to five different receivers, including two to Andy Jones who finished with six receptions for 134 yards. Morehead State's offense saw three passes intercepted and could only amass 360 offensive yards while the Dolphins accumulated 527 offensive yards.

VALPARAISO defeated Missouri Baptist, 55-6
VALPARAISO, Ind. – Valparaiso put forth its best offensive performance since 1996 in a 55-7 rout of visiting Missouri Baptist, Saturday, in nonconference action at Brown Stadium. The Crusaders rolled up 520 offensive yards in a balanced effort that included 281 rushing yards and 239 passing yards. Ben Lehman completed 16-of-22 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns while Brandon Hall carried the ball 10 times for 122 yards and two more touchdowns.

DRAKE defeated DAVIDSON, 51-14
DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake scored the game's first 37 points en route to a 51-14 PFL victory against Davidson, Saturday, at Drake Stadium. The Bulldogs scored on its first five possessions and ultimately amassed 606 offensive yards in the contest, including a season-best 343 rushing yards. Conley Wilkins led the Drake rushing effort with 13 carries for 110 yards and three touchdowns on runs of 18, 4 and 33 yards. A shorthanded Davidson squad was held to 163 offensive yards, with 132 coming from its passing game.

SAN DIEGO defeated STESTON, 31-23
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Two fourth quarter touchdown runs helped San Diego rally to post a 31-23 PFL victory against Stetson, Saturday, at Torero Stadium. Stetson led 23-17 with 12:44 remaining in the game after Jonathan Strahl hauled in a two-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Tentler. However, San Diego scored on its ensuing possession as Reggie Bell scampered in from six yards out for the 24-23 lead. On its next drive, the Toreros needed just two plays to find the end zone for the insurance score as Jonah Hodges dashed for a 56-yard touchdown to cap the scoring. Hodges finished the day with 17 carries for 273 yards and two touchdowns, with five runs of 30-plus yards. Stetson's Ryan Tentler amassed 239 offensive yards, completing 16-of-28 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns while running for 118 yards on eight carries.
