James Madison 52, Morehead State 0

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Nationally-ranked James Madison scored 21 points in the first quarter and never looked back en route to a 52-0 victory against Morehead State, Saturday, at Bridgeforth Stadium.

James Madison scored on each of its first three possessions to build a quick 21-0 lead. Morehead State would have an opportunity to break up the shutout in the second quarter, but a 48-yard field goal attempt was blocked.

Morehead State quarterback DeAndre Clayton completed 7-of-9 passes for 71 yards in the loss. The Eagles were held to 98 total offensive yards.

Elon 26, Davidson 23

ELON, N.C. – Davidson scored 20 points in the second quarter and held a lead until the final minute before Elon escaped with a 26-23 victory, Saturday, at Rhodes Stadium.

After Elon scored the game’s first nine points, Davidson saw Dylan Sparks and Coy Williams scamper for touchdown runs of 32 and 30 yards, respectively, to take a 14-9 lead. The Wildcats would extend their lead to 20-12 at halftime when Tyler Phelps found Jayden Waddell on a 36-yard touchdown pass.

Elon would score on its first possession out of the halftime break as Jaylan Thomas found open space for a 48-yard touchdown run. Davidson would push its lead back to five points, 23-18, after a Caden Bonoffski 36-yard field goal.

The Wildcats would hold on to that lead until Elon’s final drive when Joey Baughman connected with Donovan Williams for a touchdown. A two-point conversion completion set the game’s final score.

Williams led Davidson with 17 carries for 113 yards and a touchdown. Phelps completed 14-of-20 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown.
