Iowa State 27, Drake 24

AMES, Iowa – Drake scored the game's first touchdown and had a lead with less than four minutes remaining in the third quarter, putting a scare into FBS nationally-ranked foe Iowa State before falling, 27-24, Saturday at Jack Trice Stadium.

Drake forced back-to-back turnovers to open the second half and turned the second takeaway into points. Grant Kraemer found Devin Cates for a 19-yard strike and the Bulldogs had a 24-20 lead with 3:37 left in the third quarter. Iowa State would score on its next posssession to regain the lead then forced a pair of punts in the fourth quarter with key sacks.

Kraemer led a Drake offense that outgained Iowa State, 279-273, as he completed 20-of-29 passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns. He found three different receivers on his touchdown throws, including the game's first touchdown with a throw to Zach DeLeon in the first quarter.
