WEEK 10 QUICK SNAPS
Des Moines, Iowa will be the focus of the PFL world in Week 10 as league-leading San Diego will travel to Drake in a matchup of the league’s top offense versus the league’s top defense in a game that will have PFL title implications… San Diego, which leads the PFL with 545.6 yards per game and 47.4 points per game in league play, has won 26 straight PFL games and needs a 27th to stay atop the league standings… Drake has rallied after its earlier PFL loss and will look to bring the Toreros into the one-loss fray with a defense holding PFL opponents to 290.0 yards and 16.0 points per game both league bests… Stetson and Marist, the other two one-loss squads, both return home looking to stay at one loss… Stetson, which has won its last three outings in the final two minutes and by a total of eight points, will look for a more mundane outing against a Morehead State squad that has seen its offensive points output fall in each of its last three outings and was held to a season-low 284 offensive yards by Marist last week… That Marist team has scored a season-best 48 points in back-to-back games and has won in each of redshirt freshman quarterback Austin Day’s first three games at the helm and will face a Valparaiso squad that has predominantly used a two-man approach at quarterback this season but its sophomore Chris Duncan who has thrown six of the Crusaders nine passing TDs this season… Butler also heads to the Sunshine State for a matchup against Jacksonville in a contest where both clubs are seeking to end long losing streaks – Butler has lost four straight but has seen its offense improve in each of those outings, including last week’s 28-point outing against Dayton while Jacksonville has posted 35 points in each of its last two outings while searching for an end to its five-game losing streak… Dayton and Davidson have the upcoming Saturday off.

PFL IN NFL UPDATE | Five PFL alumni have seen action in the NFL this season… Jason Myers (New York [AFC] via Marist) hit seven field goals in the Jets Week 6 victory against Indianapolis, but has been called on just once in the Jets last two games, making the field goal each time… Eric Saubert (Atlanta via Drake) has played in all seven games for the Falcons in 2018 and made his first professional reception in a Week 5 loss at Pittsburgh… Jamal Agnew (Detroit via San Diego) is among all NFL kick returner leaders, averaging 27.8 yards per kickoff return this season and recovered a fumble on kickoff coverage against Green Bay in Week 5… Donald Payne (Jacksonville via Stetson) has seen action in all seven games for the Jaguars this season, primarily on special teams… Ross Dwelley (San Francisco via San Diego) has appeared in each of the 49ers last three games on special teams.

USD’s LAWRENCE NEARS PFL PASSING RECORD | San Diego’s Anthony Lawrence is now No. 2 on the PFL career passing list, entering Week 10 with 11,234 yards. The PFL career mark sits within reach, Lawrence needing 684 yards to break the record set by Morehead State’s Austin Gahafer (11,918 yards, 2013-17). Lawrence was the second San Diego quarterback to reach the 10,000-yard milestone, joining Mason Mills (10,204 yards, 2010-13).
RED FOXES’ CHRISTIAN TAKES PFL RECEIVERS RECORD | Marist wideout Juston Christian became the PFL career receiving yards record holder in Week 10 action at Morehead State. The Red Foxes receiver currently has 3,834 career receiving yards. Christian now looks to join the elite 4,000-yard club, which counts only 17 FCS receivers all-time. He is only the sixth receiver in league history to amass 3,000 career receiving yards.
SAN DIEGO’S PFL RECORD WIN STREAK NOW FCS’ LONGEST | San Diego extended its PFL record win streak in conference-only games to 26 games with its win against Jacksonville last week. The Toreros now have the FCS’ longest conference win streak after Ohio Valley Conference member Jacksonville State saw its streak stopped at Southeast Missouri in Week 8. San Diego’s last PFL loss was a 13-12 loss to Dayton on Oct. 10, 2015 in Dayton, Ohio, which it followed with back-to-back 8-0 PFL campaigns in 2016 and 2017.
TOREROS OWN NATION’S #1 HOME WIN STREAK | With James Madison’s home loss, Oct. 6, San Diego has become the FCS team with the longest home win streak. The Toreros own a 20-game home winning streak that dates back to a 2014-ending loss (Cal Poly).
CAN TEMPLE JOIN RECEIVING RANKS? | While the 3,000 career receiving yard club only has six members currently, Butler’s Pace Temple seeks to join the group. With 2,927 career yards entering Week 9, he stands a good chance of becoming lucky number seven.
DAYTON’S YINGER 12TH MEMBER OF PFL 3,000-YARD CLUB | Dayton running back Tucker Yinger became the 12th PFL runner to record 3,000 career rushing yards, reaching the milestone in Week 7 action at San Diego. With 3,290 career rushing yards, he joins Connor Kacsor (3,528 yards) as the only Dayton runners to breach 3,000 career rushing yards.
