RAISE THE CURTAIN | The PFL regular-season race began in Week 2 with Marist defeating Stetson, 38-17. A full slate of PFL action comes calling in Week 4 with 10 teams in league action. Seven teams have claimed a share of the PFL crown with Dayton winning a share of 12 titles, including six solo championships. OPENER STREAKS | Here’s a quick look at each team’s current streak in PFL openers, records are since the return to single division play in 2006:
PFL’s 25th CAMPAIGN | The 2017 season marks the 25th year for the Pioneer Football League – the nation’s only non-scholarship, football-only NCAA Football Championship Subdivision conference. The league will feature 11 teams each playing an eight-game schedule to determine the league champion and recipient of the automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA FCS Championship.
HIGGINBOTHOM LEADS RECEIVERS | Morehead State wideout Jaren Higginbothom has four receiving touchdowns this season, ranking fourth among FCS athletes in the category. His total includes two touchdown catches against Austin Peay in Week 3.
BOXRUCKER ON THE GROUND | Valparaiso sophomore running back Cody Boxrucker is getting the job done on the ground, as one of only seven runners with five or more touchdowns this season. He currently is ranked only behind South Dakota’s Chris Streveler (six TDs) in rushing touchdowns.
COOPER NOT DOGGING IT | Butler return specialist Cam Cooper has been one of the FCS’ top return threats through three weeks, amassing 339 total kick return yards – entering Week 3 ranked No. 4 in the category.
