DAYTON, Ohio – The New York Giants have announced the signing of former University of Dayton defensive back Kyle Sebetic.  He has reported to the Giants and is on their 90-man off-season roster.

“I’m ecstatic. It’s such a cool opportunity,” Sebetic said in a phone interview to Kenosha News. “I finally get to take a step and finally have a good chance of making my dream come true to play in the NFL. It’s just a relief to be signed and be here.”

Sebetic was a four year starter for the Flyers, and finished his career with 206 tackles, five interceptions, and 28 pass break-ups, including 15 in 2012 which led the NCAA FCS in passes defensed.

He was also a team captain, was selected First Team All-PFL in 2013, and was named to the 2013 PFL Academic Honor Roll.

“With Kyle signing with the New York Giants it’s a great opportunity for him and it shows the hard work he has put into his time here,” Dayton head coach Rick Chamberlain said.   It’s also a good showing of the UD football program and the type of young men we recruit here at UD.  That they have the ability to get that look at the next level”

Sebetic will look to become the first Dayton football player to play a regular season game in the NFL since 1975.  Thirty-eight Flyers have played in the NFL, including four for the Giants – Mike Ciccolella, Tom Costello, Mark Ellison and Jim Katcavage.  Katcavage played 13 seasons for the Giants.  He and Ciccolella are members of the UD Athletic Hall of Fame
