Five PFL Student-Athletes receive Academic All-America recognition
Five PFL student-athletes were named to the the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Football Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Nov. 26. Dayton's Bart Bergfield and Brandon Wingeier each received first team recognition. In addition, Dayton's Patrick McCormick and Sean Heenan joined Valparaiso's Adam Rundh on the second team.

Pioneer Football League announces postseason honors, 15th All-PFL squad
Pioneer Football League officials announced today the winners of its postseason honors and the All-Pioneer Football League first and second teams. All selections were made by the league’s coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

YES Network to televise Gridiron Classic
The YES Network will televise live the third annual Gridiron Classic college football game on Saturday, December 6, pitting University at Albany (N.Y.), champion of the Northeast Conference, against Jacksonville University (Fla.), the Pioneer Football League champion.

For the third straight year, the University of San Diego has a player on the final Walter Payton Award watch list. Senior wide receiver John Matthews is one of four new candidates to be added to the final Walter Payton watch list.

Five PFL Student-Athletes named as Draddy Trophy Semifinalists
Five Pioneer Football League student-athletes were named among 164 semifinalists for the Draddy Trophy, presented by HealthSouth, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame announced, Wednesday.
