Corwin played just the second quarter, but it was nearly perfect as his three touchdown passes helped Drake get past Butler, 33-7, Saturday. He completed 7-of-8 passes for 75 yards and three touchdowns while also running six times for 67 yards. Corwin was involved in 14 of the 17 plays either by passing or rushing that Drake ran in the quarter with eight resulting in a first down or touchdown. Drake also did not face a third-down situation on any of the three drives he led. Corwin found three different receivers on his touchdown throws of 32, 6, and 5 yards and he also had a run of 31 yards.

Barbee intercepted a pair of passes, including one on Valparaiso’s final drive, to help Morehead State claim a 28-24 victory, Saturday. He returned his first interception for a 47-yard touchdown with 2:54 remaining in the first quarter, giving Morehead State a 14-7 lead. With MSU clinging to its 28-24 lead and 1:51 remaining, Barbee ended Valparaiso’s final drive with an interception with 1:51 left to secure the win. He also had three tackles (two solo) and led a defensive effort that held Valparaiso to 88 passing yards.

Campbell tallied 25 tackles – the most by a PFL defender since 2014 – to help Presbyterian defeat Davidson, 29-24, Saturday. Campbell’s school-record tackles tally, which also was the most by any FCS defender in 2020-21, included 11 solo stops and three tackles for loss. One of those stops behind the line of scrimmage saw him also force a fumble that Presbyterian recovered and saw them score on the ensuing drive to take a 14-7 lead in the first half. Campbell also had another tackle for loss on third down that helped force a Davidson punt deep in its own territory.

After an inauspicious start, Clements recovered to average 39.6 yards on seven punts, including a 70-yard boomer on his final kick, in Stetson’s loss at San Diego. He opened the day with an eight-yard punt on Stetson’s opening drive but recovered to kick a 39-yarder on the next Stetson drive that was fair caught at the San Diego five-yard line. It was one of two punts downed inside the San Diego 10-yard line on the day – Clements saw another downed at the San Diego one-yard line – and one went for a touchback. Clements’ 70-yard boot came with him standing in his own end zone and forced San Diego to start on its own 25-yard line. San Diego only had 18 yards on punt returns in the game, Stetson netting 34.1 yards on Clements’ punting.
