Valparaiso 24, Butler 14
INDIANAPOLIS – Running back Robert Washington rushed 39 times for 199 yards and a touchdown to help Valparaiso open the PFL slate with a 24-14 victory against Butler, Saturday, at the Sellick Bowl. Washington's lone touchdown came in the second quarter – a seven-yard burst that helped Valparaiso tie the game. Valparaiso quarterback Chris Duncan then connected with Deuce Larose for a go-ahead touchdown at the halftime gun. After Butler tied the game on a Nick Orlando one-yard run, Valparaiso kicker Brian Bartholomew broke the tie for good with a 19-yard field goal. Duncan then ended the scoring with his fourth-quarter, 20-yard touchdown pass to Holden Hodge. Butler running back Kavon Samuels also had a 100-yard rushing day, finishing with 117 yards on 20 carries.

Presbyterian 31, Morehead State 16
CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian held on for a 31-16 PFL victory against Morehead State, Saturday, at Bailey Memorial Stadium. Presbyterian quarterback Tyler Huff threw two second-quarter touchdowns, including a 65-yarder to Matthew Rivera, to help the Blue Hose claim a 24-3 halftime lead. Huff then ran for a 14-yard score to put Presbyterian up 31-3 with 9:46 left in the third quarter. Morehead State scored just before the end of the third quarter with Mark Pappas hitting BJ Byrd on a 50-yard touchdown. Pappas would convert on a Presbyterian turnover in the fourth, ending a short 25-yard drive with a touchdown toss to Matt Guilfoil. Huff led Presbyterian with a 17-of-28, 211-yard passing effort that included two touchdown throws. Pappas went 20-of-45 passing for 248 yards and two scores.

Davidson 26, Stetson 20
DeLAND, Fla. – Davidson, and Stetson combined for three touchdowns in the final 8:51 and when the dust settled, Davidson escaped with a 26-20 PFL victory, Saturday at Spec Martin Stadium. Trailing 7-6 at halftime, Davidson scored the second half's first 21 points. Quarterback Tyler Phelps threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Davidson built a 26-7 lead with 8:51 left. On the ensuing drive, Stetson quarterback Alex Piccirilli 38-yard run put the Hatters inside the Davidson 20-yard line, and three plays later he plunged into the end zone from three yards out. Stetson then recovered the onside kick and Piccirilli led the way on a 7-play, 46-yard touchdown drive that slashed the deficit to 26-20. But Davidson recovered the next kickoff and ran out the clock to secure the win. Piccirilli completed 22-of-31 passes for 192 yards and two TDs and ran for another 70 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Phelps ran for 120 yards and a score on 21 carries and added another 92 yards on 7-of-10 passing that included two touchdown throws.

San Diego 13, Drake 10
DES MOINES, Iowa – Defending champion San Diego saw Mason Randall burst into the end zone from one-yard out with 3:34 remaining to escape with a 13-10 victory against Drake, Saturday, at Drake Stadium. The Toreros overcame a four-turnover day with two fumbles setting Drake up for its scoring drives despite finishing the day with only 25 offensive yards. Brandon Eickert connected on field goals of 25 and 36 yards to keep San Diego within striking distance, 7-6, at the end of three quarters. Drake kicker Nathan De Bruin hit on a 43-yard field goal after a San Diego fumble to extend the lead, 10-6. Randall then led San Diego on a 11-play, 75-yard game-winning drive. Randall completed 19-of-25 passes for 234 yards in the win.
