POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Senior wide receiver Juston Christian of the Marist football team has been named to the Watch List for the Walter Payton Award, which is presented to the most outstanding offensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.

This season, Christian has caught 39 passes for 972 yards and 12 touchdowns. He ranks second in the FCS in yards per reception (24.9), third in receiving touchdowns, and ninth in receiving yards per game (108.0).

Christian has been named PFL Offensive Player of the Week and STATS FCS Honorable Mention for Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. Those awards came following performances against Columbia and Davidson in which he amassed over 200 receiving yards and scored three touchdowns. His 274 receiving yards at Columbia on Oct. 6 set a single-game program record.

Christian is the Marist football program’s all-time leader in receiving yards (3.886) and receiving touchdowns (31). His 12 touchdown receptions this season are tied for the single season program record.

Christian is the second Red Fox to be named to a watch list for a major FCS Award this season. This summer, red-shirt senior linebacker Willie Barrett was named to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List for top defensive player in the FCS.

The Marist football team is on a five-game winning streak in PFL play, which ties a program record previously set in 2009 and 2013. The Red Foxes stand at 5-4 overall and 5-1 in league play, which has the team tied for second and one game out of first with two contests remaining. Marist returns to action on Saturday with a PFL contest at Drake at 2 p.m. Eastern.
