ST. LOUIS – As the National Football League season began Thursday night, five Pioneer Football League alumni were on active rosters across the league.

San Diego alumnus Jamal Agnew made the biggest splash among PFL alumni last season, earning consensus NFL All-Pro recognition as a return specialist. He returns this season with Detroit looking to repeat a 2017 campaign that saw him average 15.4 yards per punt return while returning two for touchdowns.

Jason Myers, a Marist alumnus, begins his fourth professional season with the New York Jets after playing the past three seasons at Jacksonville. He connected on 26 of 30 field goal attempts last season for the Jaguars, including a 58-yarder. He has made 81 percent of his field goals during his career.

Drake's Eric Saubert, begins his second professional season with the Atlanta Falcons. He is one of five tight ends listed on the Falcons depth chart as the season begins.

Donald Payne, a Stetson alumnus, is in his second season with Jacksonville. He saw action in 13 games last season, primarily on special teams, and recorded 13 tackles. He begins 2018 listed second on the Jaguars' depth chart at middle linebacker.

Jacksonville's Andy Jones also returns for his second season with the Detroit Lions, beginning the season on their physically unable to perform list.

Ross Dwelley, another San Diego alumnus, was on the San Francisco 49ers developmental team roster as the season began.
