SAN DIEGO EXTENDS PFL RECORD | San Diego posted its 17th consecutive PFL victory with a Week 8 win at Jacksonville State. The Toreros broke their own record of 15 consecutive wins set from 2005-07.

TOREROS PETERSEN LEADS THE CHARGE | San Diego defensive lineman Jonathan Petersen continues to be a force, entering Week 9 among FCS leaders in sacks (3rd, 1.50  per game), forced fumbles (1st, 0.71 per game) and tackles for loss (5th, 1.80). Among FCS active career leaders, he ranks No. 1 in total sacks (0.83) and forced fumbles (0.33) per game as well as No. 2 in both career sacks (35.0) and tackles for loss per game (1.46).

FEAR THE KICK RETURNERS | The PFL boasts four kick returners that have proven to be dangerous in 2017. Morehead State’s Jaunyea Tarver (1st, 895 yards), Valparaiso’s Bailey Gessinger (9th, 656), Dayton’s Christian Searles (13th, 591), Davidson’s Williams Wicks (19th, 493) and Butler’s Cam Cooper (29th, 458) are each ranked among the FCS Top 30 in Combined Kick Return Yardage (punt and kick returns).

RUSHING LEADERS | The PFL’s youth has run rampant in 2017, with Davidson freshman running back Wesley Dugger currently ranked sixth nationally at 103.0 yards per game while Campbell redshirt freshman quarterback Daniel Smith is eighth nationally (101.1 ypg). And proving age has its worth, Dayton senior running back Tucker Yinger rounds out a trio of PFL runner in the FCS Top 10 with his 101.5 yards per game (seventh in FCS).

FLYERS TO THE BLOCK | Dayton has blocked five kicks through the season’s first half, ranking fourth among all FCS teams. Redshirt freshman Matt Clifford has blocked two kicks in 2017, one of only four FCS defenders to block multiple kicks.

OPPORTUNISTIC CAMELS, RED FOXES AND HATTERS | Campbell is one of eight FCS squads with four or more defensive touchdowns this season, ranking second with four. Marist was joined by Stetson among a group of 42 FCS teams with multiple defensive scores this season, both getting two TDs from their defense.

STINGY BULLDOGS | Butler has not given opponents many opportunities to create off turnovers, committing just four giveaways in 2017 – the third fewest among FCS programs. The Bulldogs rank 12th among FCS teams in turnover margin (+1.25).

DOLPHINS DO RUN | A look at the NCAA FCS team leaders reveals Jacksonville’s offense is the subdivision’s No. 5 rushing offense, averaging 281.7 yards per game on the ground. The Dolphins rank seventh in rush attempts (369) and 13th in yards per rush (5.34).

CAMELS DEFEND THE AIR | Campbell has picked off a FCS best 16 passes through Week 8 and are ranked No. 4 among FCS teams in pass efficiency defense (99.86) as well as No. 5 in scoring defense (14.9 ppg).
